Sorry to hear about the fluid loss MCS. Sounds like something wasn't quite right from the factory. Good luck and please keep us posted! Frank

The whining is normal on the hydro in high gear. The leaking is not.

Do you see oil on the ground? You need to have tractor level to use sight glass. I mostly check right b-4 I start it because if tractor is not level it looks mt. I would hate to have you take it in with no leak!!

I agree on that one. Our 1523 does not have a site glass, and on the dipstick the oil is hard to read. I can only imagine how it would be with a sight glass. Checking in the morning, or before use after sitting for a few hours would hopefully make it easier.

Keep us posted on the leak.

Has there been visible signs of the leaking. If not did you check the sight glass when you got the tractor to make sure it was at proper level. Regardless have your dealer check it out,and there shouldn't be any whining in either low or high range.I did my 50hr. service and had to add one quart more tranny fluid then the book calls for to bring the fluid half way into the sight glass, of coarse I checked with my service guy first. Keep us posted.

My 2305 has been leaking a little hydraulic fluid ever since I changed it at the 50 hour service. In other words, I failed to snug something down. Now have about 85 hours on it. At 100 I'll pull off the 62C mower deck to sharpen the blades and also do another engine oil and filter change. I'll find and correct the leak at that time, assuming I'm correct about the cause.

My Century 2535 has a site glass in the rear axle, and after a few months of mowing, I cleaned off the grass to see that I was very low on hydraulic fluid. I filled it up and saw that the site glass was causing the leak. The glue to hold it in place had failed and the fluid just oozed out around it. While mowing, grass would build up on the axle and I couldn't see the leak.

I took out the site glass, cleaned it up a bit and used some silicone to put it back in. The next day I filled it back up again, and it's held without any leak since then.
