Good Afternoon All,

Having a small squabble with the wife regarding a tractor purchase. I would prefer the TC40 and she would rather go with the T1520, need some opinions on which you all think is the better purchase...thanks for advise in advance.

Here are the particulars:

$14,500

2008 T1520 w/FEL

i'd go with the used one and spend the other $$ on implements!:D

i'm biased, though, used doesn't bother me and i really don't mind doing 99% of my own repairs......

my opinion is if you are paying cash.....if you finance the used tractor will most likely have a higher rate than the new one........this would change my mind.....

It will be a cash deal for either one. The T1520 looks almost identical to the Ford 1920 but with even less 3 point lift capability as the Ford!!!

That's because it isn't close to being identical to a 1920. It is a direct descendant of the 1520 and 1620. It's a whole frame size/class smaller than the 1920.

Wow....even smaller frame? I think my wife is going to not get what she wants...

Realizing the the TC40 is a bigger tractor(significantly), if I had the maneuvering room, I would get that. They are strong, simple, robust, yet very capable. Note the version of the HST pedal(side by side vs treadle) if you are looking at HST. The 40 is significantly more capable than the 1520, spec, weight, and feature wise.

It looks like I paid to much for my TC45D, because that is one of the lowest prices I have heard of for that model, if it is the deluxe version? I, personally, can't find a fault with mine, except for the fear of electronic failures(easy to fix, but annoying, though I have not had one).

Good luck.
Chris

Well if you are mechanically inclined, go with the 40. Way more bang for the buck. That is what I would do.

JMHO.
