Clutch problems YM 1500

Is there a different feel to the pedal action/movement when it don't work compared to when it does ?

I was just estimating 1/3 of the time, but it's as I'm using it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It is always hard to shift now. The gears seem to grind a lot. This happened fairly quickly do. One day it was working fine, the next day not.

I will try adjusting the linkage to see if I can give it some play and see if that works. I'll also check old threads. Thanks for the help! I do have your manual, so if I need to try doing something with the pressure plate hopefully there is a description how to do that there.

Do you have the small 2 bolt plate on the side of you'er tractor on the bell housing ?? If you do you can remove the plate,,look inside & have someone press the clutch pedal. Mabe you can see what's going on.....do this without the tractor running

sounds like there's something going on in that area. Has the clutch.p.p t.o bearing ever been replaced??? If not, Maybe it's time to split the tractor & replace all clutch parts

That's what I'm afraid of, but I'm really hoping not. I just bought the tractor this fall. I've discovered so many strange rig-jobbing on it I'm kind of afraid to tackle it. So I was hoping to exhaust other adjustment possibilities first.

I think I'm fortunate, at least so far. It warmed up enough to get the tractor out and after adjusting the linkage slightly and fixing the gear shift lever, my clutch worked fine. Hopefully it will stay that way.
