I have an outdoor wood boiler coming within the next week. The weight comes in at 2000#. Do you think my L5030 will be able to pick it with my forks? How about with the bucket and hooks mounted in the normal locations (3) of course I would pick from the middle. I think it will with the forks, but of course I would like some opinions on it to be more sure of it. I have a 1200# ballast on the back also. I can pick up logs and it will max out the loader before it picks the back wheels up so I feel safe on it having enough ballast.

you'll probably be able to get it off the truck, but I doubt you could load it from the ground up.

It also has a pick hook on the top. Do you think it will pick it then? I realize I'm maxing it out and it will be close, but of course I have to try it.....I might just beat my chest after if it does pick it. He has a crade trailer, but it will be a major PIA to get it on the pad, but it can be done. Thanks for the reply.

If you can hang the lift chain down the back of the bucket you'll get more lifting force.

You might want to try a 3 point hitch boom pole instead. I think your lifting capacity would be greater, depending on how far out on the pole the load is...

Assuming the tractor and pole could lift it, I'd still load the FEL bucket with a load of sand...

Make sure you can lift it completely free of the truck. If you cant you could tip when it slides off.

Lifting by the pick hook while it's on the truck may take more reach than you have. Are you sure the weight is 2k (sounds high)? If so I'm concerned we're not giving you safe advice. A boom pole is less than half the strength you need - and control is jerky. A safer bet is have the dealer use his own rig to unload the boiler on the ground (he must be equipped to do that if he's in the business). Then you may be able to skid it around with the forks.

Don't worry, I've got a lot of money riding on doing it safely (for the boiler and myself). He brings it in a cradle (like what is used to transport LP tanks). It is roughly 3', if that, off the ground. He can set down anywhere then I would move it 20'-30' roughly. Like I said, I will try it, but can do it with his cradle, although it will be a lot of screwing around. The dealer told me 2000# but I researched it and found it to be 1700#, which is still a good pick. The next size up is 2500#.

It would be nice if you could take some pictures of the unloading and moving of it!

If it was me I think I would check on getting a rigger to come in and move it into place.

I think??

I will take some pics, or my wife will actually. I think it will do it but won't be depressed if it doesn't. I have to believe the 300 Gallon concrete septic tank that I picked and moved was heavier than this. We'll see.
