My Dad and I bought a new BX-2660 a couple of months ago and haven't had any problems with it.... until today. Dad just called me and said he was moving some stuff around with the FEL, when he went to back up the pedal went to the floor and nothing happened, then he tried to go forward and the same thing. He says he didn't hear anything go pop snap, crackle or pop so it doesn't sound like anything broke (we hope). Does anyone have any ideas of what to look for? It's still under warranty but if it's something simple we'd rather fix it ourselves instead of trying to load up a dead tractor and have it sit at the dealer for a week.

To be honest I'm not sure. I'm back on the road and was heading into a pickup when he called, now that I have a little time I'll call him back and see. Thanks for the thought.

Sounds like a pin or a bolt fell out of the linkage if it happened all at once.

Maybe the hairpin clip on the other side of this gold colored bar linkage fell off ?

Did he accidentally bump the gear selector lever into neutral?

What radioman said.

A couple months after I bought my BX2230 (about 4 years ago) I had the same thing happen and the culprit was a nut (instead of a hairpin) that had come off which connected the pedals to the business end.

Thanks for all the replys, turns out it was the shear pin. It had backed out but was still hanging on so it wasn't lost. There's a retaining clip on it that had gotten bent out of the way allowing it to move. He got the pin back in place and then bent the retaining clip back into place so it's all good again.

Glad it was a simple fix. I remember when it happened to me my heart sank and I thought I had really messed something up. You are probably already doing this but since your machine is still "new" make sure you give it a good once over every few uses to make sure things haven't come loose. As the machine gets used things tend to loosen up due to the vibration, etc. if they were not completely tight during assembly. I had to re-torque a couple bolts and tighten up a hydraulic fitting during the first few months - no issues since.

Enjoy.
