What is the best (most useful) modification that you have made to your tractor?

chain hooks on FEL
made a carry-all that fits on 3ph hay fork
gooseneck ball on 3ph hay fork to move trailers
chain holders in FEL hollow horizontal support arms
rear lighting
hydraulic top link

I couldn't tell you which of these is the best... they all are!

I didn't like the fact that it took about 20 minutes to fold the foldable roll bar(ROPS) down and/or up,because the bolts you need to unscrew are in an awkward place and a very fine thread. So I bought new grade 8 bolts the same size as the originals and ground the threads off so the bolt would fit thru the welded nut, then drilled a 3/16 hole thru the bolt, for a hairpin retainer to hold it in place, with a washer for good measure.
Now it takes maybe 1/2 minute to put the ROPS up or down and the part I ground is not in the part of the bolt that would take stress if (God forbid) the roll bar was needed. I've already found out that a 6 1/2 foot roll bar doesn't fit under a 6 1/4 foot doorway, so I need a way to get the bar up and down quickly, else I'm tempted to leave it down.

Bucket hooks are best.

2nd best was installing a Racor R12 fuel filter before the undersized OEM filter.

(both can be seen in photo)

I would have to say:

1: Boat/RV etc drink holder from Cabellas. No- Shakee Drinkee.. Just Swingee

2: The carry all... Cheap thing to buy or build. (I bought a KK unit) So many uses......

3: The wifey.. I can stand back and watch her play.. Need to get her a set of ear buds and headphones for her Ipod. Will never hear from her again.

Loaded my rear tires. Haven't done that yet to my L4400, but I will... some day.

Sharpened my FEL bucket edge real sharp. It shaves up to 1-1/2" brush flush with the ground like a giant razor. When I bush hog around my fence line, I set my bucket about a foot high and level, and any limbs sticking out gets nipped and fed to the bush hog.

Got to figure out how to put a level indicator rod on my FEL. The stock "level indicator" is going to get my bucket all bent up. :(

I know this is off topic, but I put removable casters under my bush hog. Makes it super easy to roll it and line it up with the 3 point hitch. Gotta figure out how to do that with my new Bush Hog.

I put several upward facing prongs on the top of the loader bucket so logs can't roll back and sit on my lap!:D

Great idea. Wonder is a solid sheet across the rear of the loader would prevent my LA703a loader from dumping dirt in my lap?

Adding rear remotes and CCM hyd. top link. Takes using all my implements to a new level.

These d-rings from Northern. High capacity. Cheap. Easy to mount using grade 8 bolts.

Also, two heavy duty zip ties on the ROPS to hold my Fiskars axe in. Don't leave home without it!

Just for interest; yesterday I saw a tractor with a very broken hood due to something falling off the bucket and onto the hood!:D

Back in 2002, I converted my L5450's pto gearbox so it has 2 speeds - 540 and 750 rpm. The job details and more pics are posted here. I recently got a second L5450 and converted that one the same way. It is handy to have the higher speed for low-power attachments - lets the engine loaf at around 1700 with the pto at full 540rpm.
