I'm not sure what to call it, but I want to remove grass from one area and put it somewhere else. Is there an implement I can use on my Kubota to do that?

I have a section of yard I'm going to plow up for planting my garden next year. I have another section of my yard that needs sod. So i'd like to "cut" the sod up in one area to use somewhere else.

Ideas?

Take your gas edger, put it on the deepest setting and cut squares a foot shorter than your loader width(Assuming you have one) and 18"wide. Carefully skim under the strips and move them where you want. I have seen a sod machine but it would cost way too much!

hmm, i don't have a front loader, but i'll keep my eyes out for one. that's a fantastic idea!! thanks!

all i have is a 60" MMM, 10 disc discer, and a disc/plow, single row plow, and two snow blades.

wonder if i could make something work....attach the snow blades or make something?

Could be that renting a sod cutter might be your best option unless you just want to try to make one.

if i can find one, then renting a sod cutter is the way to go. but i'm afraid out where i live the one rental place probably won't have one of those. hopefully i'm wrong.

if they don't i'll experiment a bit with a snow blade, cutting like he mentioned earlier and maybe some minor mocking of a "tool" to do this. i don't need a ton, it's not like i'm doing even 1/4 acre, so it doesn't have to be super fast and efficient.

thanks guys, great ideas.

As suggested, you could cut it into smaller pieces, scoop it up with a flat spade and haul the pieces with a pickup. Grass is really tough as long as you don't let it get too dry. Roll the pieces up like the pro guys.

It would be a tough job though, if you are going to move too much grass. Now might be the time to buy that FEL you've always wanted.

Good luck. Paul

if you take your time the FEL will cut it as good as anything else. Then if you practice you can use it to lay it abck at the place you want to plant it.

You stated you had a one bottom plow, does it have a coulter?
I built this coulter attachment for creating a straight line when edging my lawn. First cut the lines then use your bucket or even a shovel to remove the sod. I also found that by cutting a line with the coulter first then pulling my ripper through with an irrigation line there is no place that it rips the sod and within one week you cannot ever see where it was buried.

doubt i'll be able to find one for a B7100, but i'd be interested if i could find one for sale.

I believe most FEL manufacturers have the sub-frame parts to fit a B7100 to adapt their loader. The B7100 was a very popular CUT and there are many of them still around.

Just this summer fitted my 1978 B7100 (gear) with a Westendorf TA55. While searching, found several options, but landed a pretty good deal with this one.
