Ok, I have to ask? Why are you going with the standard duty bucket? When everybody almost anybody on here regrets the flimsy standard duty? For just a couple hundred more, you could have the heavy duty 73" bucket? Unless you don't use it much? But I've seen so many standard dutys bow and warp, especially along the top rail of the bucket....

I have been debating it. I am going to put a tooth bar on it and that seems to really stiffen things up a bunch. I could go either way, also I have my 5525 for the tougher stuff.

Of course, if I went with the JD heavy duty bucket, they could get me the JD toothbar.

Another consideration is the extra weight. The heavier the bucket, the less stuff I can put in the bucket.

I have not finalized my order, I might go big.

Can't weigh that much more... 80-90lbs?? Four or five years of use and you'll sure wish you had that extra weight --

Best of luck with your new CAB model!

Another item that is dirt cheap and seems to be needed with the cab is a horn. I think my dealer charged me 30 dollars for the horn and install.

It saves me from opening the door each time I have to get someones attension.:D

I was wondering about a horn. I added one on my 5525, but most of the time it is hard to hear if the engine is running. It is probably better on a 4520.

This accessory catalog is addictive.

I see what you mean on the added weight of the bucket. But, I only have a 300cx loader, with the 73" heavy duty bucket. There isn't anything I can't fill in the bucket and can't lift to full height. Unless you are talking huge boulders, even then you can lift enough for the carry position. The 400x loader has quite a bit more muscle than the 300cx, same bucket so I have a hard time believing there is anything you could fit in the bucket and not be able to lift. Think about resale too. Most want heavy duty buckets. Most guys that have standard buckets were never offered the heavier bucket, and regret it. Just my opinion... your buying a top dog machine.. don't cheap out on the one thing that gets all the abuse.

My 3720 is not as loud as a 4720, but at pto rpm, the horn can be heard with no issue by people close or over 200 feet away.

Interesting - it is cheap enough, I'll add it.

I took a list to the dealer to figure out the final price and how long it will take to get it. Added the heavy duty bucket, tooth bar, air seat, and horn.

D.- the horn is a good move. I wrangled over adding the horn to my 110, too.

Figured it would be a real help to get people's attention instead of trying to yell all the time -- and it IS a much better way to get noticed... nobody cares if I'm yelling....

That and tryin' to get the da#* dog to move outta the way!?!

Man, this whole thing is moving too fast for me. The guy wants to come pick up the 4720 tomorrow. I am going to miss that tractor... Maybe not too much when it is 105 and 10 hours into raking hay.

When I ordered my 3720 a a little bit ago, it was set to be in 3 weeks from the order date. I had to let it sit at the dealer becasue it came in just over a week later and the loader was not there. The loader took 3 weeks.

Man, 4720 is gone. Kinda feels weird, I will miss that tractor. :)

My dealer is working on the delivery times, etc. All I know is I need it in 30 days to rake hay! If it doesn't show, I bet they would loan me something to get it done.

They already told me they would figure something out. They won't leave me hanging - another reason I like doing business with them.

D. good and bad with selling your 4720 - good that you got a good price and a solid buyer; bad that the machine is gone before your new one is front and center, ready to roll.

I had a similar situation and sold my old tractor within 3 days of posting on Craig'slist but the buyer let me keep my old machine for a couple of week's until my new one was ready. (I made it worth his time and gave him a very good price on a 3pt log splitter).

It seems that if a tractor is reasonably priced and is well maintained (records, owner's manuals, etc.) there's a ready market of buyer's that's alot stronger right now than anything comparable in the automobile world!

Yeah - glad i have my 5525 still. I could not go without a tractor!

Good tractors seem to sell quickly. I wish i had gotten more money for it, but I can't complain I got a lot of good use out of it.

Hey Darin,

Nice work on the upgrade. Why the 4520 instead of another 4720 with a cab?? Is the extra couple HP not a big deal?? Did you get 3rd SCV, a diverter kit, or power beyond??

I finally started moving rounds off my GN last week with my 4720/400x/spear/Ballast box with gravel and fluid in tires. I figure they were about 1200lbs and I had no problem at all. I even did a little test to see if I could pick up and place bales off the second row of the GN, and I could. Had to be VERY careful, but it did it.

Wanted to say thanks to everyone that's offered advise over the past few months.

-Jer.
