Tractor Less Than Ten Years Old - Mahindra Parts Not Available!

Mahindra no longer has 4510 in their lineup and so they don't have parts for it any longer. This was fairly disconcerting news to hear from dealer, but that is what they found trying to get Ag wheels for my 4510 that came with industrial wheels. The dealer did try and spent time checking, but that is what they found. I have a 1998 John Deere track loader and can pretty much buy anything for it. Same with Kubota, etc.. It is a shame Mahindra shoots themselves in the foot in this manner. Maybe it is because the tractor is built by TYM for Mahindra, but regardless as far as I am concerned it reflects very poorly on the entire company and I will not recommend to anyone! If you don't have parts available, not that they need to be stocked everywhere, 10, 20, even 30 years down the road is inexcusable - Mahindra is a sub-par brand!!! I actually did ask my dealer for R1 when I purchased, but it showed up with the R4 and I mistakenly didn't think it was such a big deal as I thought I could change them out later. Not so, for a most basic part outside of air/oil filters - its a wheel for crying out loud! The engine is probably okay since that is made by Kioti The tractor overheated from day 1 - and had to be modified to be use-able (spacing the AC condenser out a couple inches from radiator front, relocating battery/etc., and adding electric fan). I buy a new tractor to get in and run - not sit in a garage while I modify it due to errant design. ....sigh! They do put a lot of good steel in the thing and the engine itself is quite good, so it is sad they miss a few things in putting it together that really would not have cost them much and then choose to ignore basic parts needs of customers once it is no longer in current fleet which is probably why they introduce new models more frequently. Avoid Mahindra is my recommendation!!

Pros: General structure, engine, etc. is sound, loader and subframe have good amount of steel
Cons: Mahindra does not supply parts once the tractor is 8 or 9 years old

Maintenance

This is a high maintenance tractor. It has weak synchronizes in the transmission, The 4 wheel drive does not hold up. The air conditioner compressor went bad for no reason and the bearings in the idler pulley went bad. One of the hose ends blew off on the power steering and I had to have it repaired. I use this tractor for mowing my yard and it has not been mistreated since I have owned it. The paint is of poor quality and the position of the hydraulic control for the bucket is located poorly. The only way I would ever own another is if they traded me even. Then I could see if they were all as junkie as this one. The lights fall apart and the vision with the lights are very poor at night because of there locations.

Pros: It has good vision from the cab.
Cons: High maintenance.
