JD F935
Model Year: 1999
The JD F935 that is being reviewed has the following: Commercial 76 Rear Discharge Mower, 47" Snow Blower (newer version), a 4 post ROPS with soft cab, glass windshield and heater. I'm using the machine mainly for snow blowing, but use the mowing deck as well. The lawn is quite small and it takes less than 15 minutes to mow the entire lawn. Snow blowing takes an hour or more. The machine is pretty easy to work on, if maintenance is required under the seat, I found it much easier to perform after removing the seat assembly and base it sits on, thus giving full access without straining. The controls are easy to use, fuel consumption is conservative considering it has dual 5.5 gallon tanks, operator comfort is pretty good, having the cab on it keeps the sun off you in the summer and the snow and wind out of your face in the winter, the heater really kicks out the heat too. General maintenance for this machine is relatively simple and easy to remember, engine oil and filer changes are once a year or 200hrs, same with the hydro-static/hydraulic system, one year or 200 hrs. The air filters are huge and only need to be changed when the filter minder shows it's becoming plugged. I change the fuel filter the same time I do all the other maintenance, keeps it simple. At the writing of this review I have 1793 hrs. on the machine. It is rated for commercial use and I figure at this rate, I'll never wear it out. If you can find one for a decent price that hasn't been abused and comes with a couple attachments, it is a great machine. The only thing I would change: make it an F1145 with 4WD, someday.
Pros: Maneuverability, operator comfort, ability to see all around the machine, quality of attachments, power to run blower in adverse snow conditions and does quite well in heavy wet snow, slush not so good.
Cons: Gets stuck easily in wet grass without attachment on, brake steering pedals joint can seize---welded together and difficult to free up.
