8000 Ford
Love This Tractor
Model Year: 1971

I purchased this tractor new in 1971. I was my first "larger" tractor. Over the years my farm grew from 300 acres to nearly 1500 acres. For many years this tractor did everything there was to be done, from sub soiling, cultivation, pumping water all summer for Irr., to later running module builders in the fall, with practically no down time. It had over 10,000 hrs. before the engine was ever touched, and even then used very little oil. The radiator has never been off, the trans., diff., nor hydraulics have never been touched. Even now, the hitch will hold a piece of equip. up indefinitely without sinking to the ground. The steering was always a little stiff, so after about 8 yrs I replaced it with a 9600 steering mtr. and it still works excellent. I love the way it handles in the field! I've owned all colors, and by far this is the most economical tractor I've ever owned. Also replaced seat with 9600 Ford seat. Very good.

Pros: Very economical to run. Handles really well.
Cons: Steering motor and seat floatation were less than par.
