Overbuilt and I Like It
Model Year: 2005
The M48 Tank made by Lesco is a severely overbuilt machine. I use it to cut approximately 2 acres of woodland. This includes fallen branches, privet twigs, stumps, smoothing hills out with the blades, and the occasional towing of yard trailers. The machine does all of it with ease. I have had one issue that was easy to fix: one of the the deck belts was popping off and I discovered that the pulley that was letting go was not deep groove enough. One of the other pulleys on the deck was a perfect swap and I bought a second pulley of that part number and installed it. Done. I use belts from the car parts store, A108 and B80 I believe. They are much cheaper than the factory ones. I mow lawns for friends when they have mowing problems and I am able to knock out simple lawns in a fraction of their lawn tractors. One word of warning, the mower has the power to pull wheelies, spin-out on pavement, and dig holes in dirt. Throttle control is required.
Pros: Power, build quality, reliability.
Cons: Heavy, hard to tow.
