Buying Advice Cub Cadet LTX 1045 vs. the 1046

Hello soon-to-be new owner here, I had a question what anyone thought of the price difference between the 1045 and the 1046. It will cost me about $300 to jump to the 1046, but just don't know if...

LTX1045 Cub Cadet
Not Bad But Cautious Because It's a Troy Bilt
Model Year: 2012

Overall, I am happy with it for 55 hours of mowing and towing a pretty large spreader. Spindles do not have zerk fittings, and mower deck belt fell off once. Transmission seems to " whine". I guess I am just a little cautious because of previous real bad experience with Troy Bilt lawn tractor.

Pros: Starts good, pretty good ride, even cut.
Cons: Transmission whines, no grease fittings on spindles.

This mower cuts great, great handling, comfortable, great gas mileage w/3.3 gal gas tank and 3 year warranty. The locking brake/cruise control is in a odd position and I prefer a fender mount shift rather than the foot pedals. I have always owned twin cylinder lawn tractors, but the 20hp single Kohler surprised me, but still not as smooth as a twin. "comparing a 4 cylinder with a 8 cylinder with smoothness". Why have a oil pressure light that does not have a oil pressure sending unit! Mfg. is cheap as cheap. That was one of the buying features.

Pros: Even cutting, turning radius, gas mileage, easy to get on/off, looks good.
Cons: Brake, cruise, no oil pressure sensor, transmission foot pedals.

Another Great Cub Cadet
Model Year: 2010

Purchased my new Cub Cadet LTX 1045 last fall, and this thing runs like a champ. Hasn't missed a beat, and started off this spring, just like it ended last fall! Still trucking now that summer is upon us!

Pros: Solid deck, good strong engine (hp), very reliable.
Cons: None so far.

I love my lawn mower! Smooth cut at all settings, power to cut tall wet grass if you are forced to. It will do a number on dry grass, once I let my yard get away from me due to my work hours, it was at least a foot thick & I cut it with no problems. I had to go over it more than once & alter the cutting patterns but it handled it with no problems. No problems pulling hills, good gas mileage at full speed, easy maintenance if you know how to use a grease gun, oil changes are simple just cut a milk jug in half & catch the oil in it, filter is on the side of the motor. Comfortable seat, decent ride, and you will love the cruise control.

Pros: 12 inch turning radius, ability to mow in reverse, criuse controll, simple to drive, & price.
Cons: Plastic hood makes me nervous around trees poles & walls. It should come with a bumper from the factory and a cubcadet plastic water bottle with a straw with a straw cap on it to keep grass out of your drink while it's in the cup holder. Other than that, I love this mower.
