L4400 Kubota
Kubota strong
Model Year: 2006

This was my first tractor after retiring from 28 yrs in the army. I didn't think I would be doing any haying...just post holes, bucket for horse manure, etc. Little did I know that I would end up with the use of a 25 acre hay field next door. I lucked onto old equipment at a good price. The immediate problem was could the L4400 handle a NH 856 round baler. My dealer said no...the old chain drives are too heavy and too big. I decided to chance it and am glad I did. It doesn't even know the baler is there! And this is not flat ground.

Pros: Stronger than advertised!
Cons: Single hydraulic service--my fault should have forecast worse case.

L4400 HST Review
Model Year: 2010

I had a few issues with the tractor when I first got it. Some how they worked them selves out. The only thing I would complain about now is the FEL seems weak. I am going to purchase a kit to test the pressure and see if I need to adjust the pressure.

Pros: Lots of power, will do everything and more then you need it to.
Cons: Weak on the HST when using the FEL for big loads.

L4400 Kubota
Watch the Repair Cost
Model Year: 2005

The Kubota has preformed well. The four wheel drive front end had a problem and parts needed replacing. Took the tractor to the selling Kubota Dealer where he quoted a repair price of $1800.00 plus. After checking the parts prices on Tractorbynet and receiving a written estimate, I found the dealer was charging twice as much as the parts would cost on your web site. The dealer dropped his price down to about $900.00. Thanks to TractorByNet I will order most of my needed parts from you. Screw me once--shame on me. You want get a second try.

Pros: Cost to operate is reasonable.
Cons: Cost to repair (in this case) is way out of line.

Brand New Kubota L4400DT
Model Year: 0

Just purchased, only 2 hours in the field on it, but I am extremely pleased. If you have the opportunity to shop for a Kubota near Oxford Alabama, I would recommend Beshears Tractor, I will provide a further review on the tractor after I get some more hours., but it had all the power I needed yesterday to drive through 2-3" saplings and turning the 6' heavy duty bush hog no problem. Also, I got the tractor with loader, an 18' trailer, and 6' heavy duty bush hog, tax and all out the door for 25,000. My research indicates I saved approximately $3,000.

Pros: Everything so far - recommend Beshears Tractor as a dealer.
Cons: You'll want to remove the flashers before going into heavy bush.

Model Year: 2002

I bought this four wheel drive L4400 to pull my bush hog and run a six foot tiller, it has been a really reliable tractor. It has plenty of power to run a six foot bush hog even in thick brush. It is easy on fuel. The only draw back I have found is that the radiator screen gets clogged up while mowing, but that happens to most all tractors. I would recommend this tractor to anyone needing a 45 horse tractor.

Pros: Easy on fuel; plenty of power.
Cons: I haven't run into any yet.

L4400 Kubota
A Serious Thought
Model Year: 2010

Having owned a Ferguson TED 20 for nearly 20 years--which I still have--having been spoiled with reliability, build, and quality; and having intensely researched all the models mentioned, I just couldn't go past this tractor L4400 4WD gear model with FEL. The cost was higher than Mahindra or Kioti--around 8-10k more. John Deere was dearer 6K more then L4400 (I thought the same HP), but size was an issue, it was a good 15-20% larger. I have trees, so menuvrability is a important factor to me. Also it's lightest in its class, I prefer this, as you can always add weight, but you cant take it off. It starts the first time, every time, is very smooth and the torquey engine, never seems short of muscle, at any time. Having looked at all the others, the build, fit, and finish of the Kubota are noticeably better than the others, including John Deere surprisingly, but only marginally. You can find the tool box little on small side, but behind a Kubota you wouldn't need it anyway (lol). The light switch/indicator are a little flimsy, but that's all. Having said that, I couldn't be any happier with it, it has surpassed all my expectations, and knowing it will hold its value, like no other--helps me sleep at night.

Pros: Powerfull; Simple; Well built; Resale value.
Cons: None that matter.

L4400 Kubota
Kubota L4400
Model Year: 2005

I bought a Kubota L4400 new in 2005 to use for my 40 acre farm and Horse Stables operation. The tractor is a close to perfect for my needs here both for the stables and the small farm. I did a lot of research before purchasing and think I got the optimum machine for my purposes. It is a very stout and reliable, easily maintained tractor. The only thing that could be better is the rear weight. It is much too light in the rear for using the loader with heavt loads such as large round bales of hay. You have to take it slow when changing load elevation and be careful when traversing downhill at any angle other than perpendicular as the tractor may turn over. Just be ready to drop the load down quickly if you feel the tractor is beginning to turn over. With a heavy rear attachment such as my backhoe there isn't this problem. I haven't tried it but using liquid rear tire fill as ballast should improve if not solve the problem.

Pros: stout, reliable, easily maintained and designed and built well for compact tractor.as well as price competitive and attractive financing offers
Cons: Light in rear that can pose a roll over danger with heavy front loads. Kubota financing offers very good plans but if you don't fit the credit profile perfectly they can be very frustrating to deal with..

L4400 Kubota
L4400HST
Model Year: 2008

The L4400HST is smooth running, powerful. Works great cutting 3 acres with a 72" rear mount mower. The front loader has weak breakout force, and the lack of rollback on the bucket is a problem for me. The backhoe BH90 is difficult to get on and off because the seat is so close to the controls, and the seat is not adjustable. The hydraulic pump is too small for the BH90, only one function can be done at a time. ie: the boom cannot be raised and swung at the same time. Wish I bought a L3940HST.

Pros: Tractor smooth running, HST works great.
Cons: Small hydraulic pump, lack of rollback on FEL.

L4400 Kubota
I have not put too many hours on it, but so far, I like it.
Model Year: 2007

Don't know why, but this dealer had a 2007 with less than an hour on it, in his inventory, in 2009. It's a HST with quick attach loader and two aux remotes for hyds. Surprised me that a 4 x 4 turns on a dime. The HST is worth the extra money for someone with bad knees, etc... Uses more fuel than I think it should, but hopefully will get better the more hours I put on it.

Pros: cheep fenders, but that's about it.
Cons: fuel consumption is a little higher than hoped.

L4400DT
Model Year: 2006

A simple tractor design with few frills. Strong, reliable workhorse. Used primarily for loader work and brush cutting. R4 tires work well except hard slick surfaces. 3pt lift capacity and loader capacity are well matched to tractor size. Expect tractor to have extremely long life because of it's simple, durable design.

Pros: well built, strong, simple design
Cons: needs telescoping 3pt arms, tilt steering wheel, better suspension seat

The tractor is great, the rest....not so much
Model Year: 0

The L4400 is a great machine. smooth running, quick starting. The Kubota attachments are not up to the caliber of the tractor. The BH90 hoe, is not a good match for this tractor,(under powered.) The hoe itself is not ergonomically designed. The third function valve, is a dealer option, that is a cob job. If I had to do over, I would have goon with a woods hoe, it is stronger, and they offer a thumb from the factory.

Pros: Tractor is rock solid powerful, and smooth.
Cons: Kubota brand attachments not well matched to the machine

L4400 Kubota
Kubota L4400
Model Year: 2005

This is my first tractor so I don't have a lot of prior experience to compare it to. I've had the tractor for 5 years now. When I purchased this tractor I was looking for the most powerful machine I could get for the least amount of money. I think the L4400 is one of the best values in tractors, across all brands. I got the gear drive, 4wd model with loader and rear remotes for a little over $19,000, new. It has a surprising 45 hp in a small, light tractor. The tractor has been extremely reliable. Two repairs have been required. The first was a leaking rear remote connection due to failed o-ring or poor installation, fixed quickly under warranty. The second repair was due to a branch puncturing the radiator during serious land clearing. Radiator repair cost $75. No other problems or mechanical issues. The tractor is basic yet hides some really nice features. The transmission is fully manual and you have to stop between gear changes. There are four forward gears and four reverse and hi-low selection for forward gears for a total of 12 speeds. Steering is hydraulic and very smooth and easy. The PTO is live independent and an excellent design. An electric switch engages a hydraulic clutch and PTO operation is smooth and independent of the transmission clutch. Standard safety features are well implemented and unobtrusive. Tractor will not start with PTO engaged or if it is in gear. Tractor will run with the PTO running as long as the seat is tilted forward which allows use of PTO driven pumps, generators, chippers, log splitters etc. There is an operator presence switch in the seat. The tractor's various capacities range from excellent to marginal. The 45 hp engine and approximately 40 PTO horse power are superb for such a small, normally aspirated tractor. The power is quite surprising. Pulling a 2 bottom 14" plow through virgin clay is easy. The LA 703 loader has great stats and generally has higher capacities than comparably priced tractors. The hydraulic pump capacity is decent but not stellar. The 3 three point lift capacity is okay but maximum implement weight is fairly low at 800 pounds. This has not hindered my use of the machine in any way and I use a 6 foot medium duty box blade, 8 foot disk and light duty 6 foot rotary cutter with no problems. A 6 foot medium or heavy duty rotary cutter will likely push or exceed the hitch's lift capacity though. The four wheel drive system is basic and robust. There is no resistance to turning even in tight turns. A simple lever switches in and out of 4wd. Maintenance is generally simple and straightforward. Any home mechanic should be able to do any of the routine maintenance. I do mine myself. In summary, this is a light, powerful, robust, versatile and reliable tractor with no frills but many well designed and implemented features for a remarkably low price.

Pros: Horsepower, durability, dependability, simple design, low price.
Cons: Three point lift capacity is marginal. Very few frills.

L4400 Kubota
L4400 Kubota
Model Year: 2008

Very rugged, NO frills machine-just what i wanted. the last thing i wanted was controllers, digital this, sensor that. it has ag tires, as i will sacrifice a bit of lawn damage for brute traction when needed.I also chose a standard clutch/gear shift model, as i did not want the hassle of an hot running, always whining hydrostat, that needs vulnerable fans to keep it cool. I am very pleased with the tractor, and recently used it for 19hrs straight during a 5ft dump of a snow storm; it never missed a beat. i would recommend this model to anyone who wants a very basic, rugged, proven design. My attachments include: 703 loader w/bkt bobcat brand pallet forks homemade FEL 7.5' plow 7ft rear bushhog blade 6ft sitrex finish mower chains for all 4 kubota canopy -i could not live w/out the forks-

Pros: simple, rugged, proven design
Cons: seast switch is aggravating at times- i like to stand to see the tips of my forks,

L4400 Kubota
L4400 4WD
Model Year: 2005

I bought this used from Chappell. At the time I was running a 1964 MF65 2WD which was getting very tired. I had researched tractors and this was on my short list. First, it was a Kubota with the implied reliability. Second it had a lot of grunt for a tractor under $20000. It had great ground clearance, tight turning radius, quick disconnect bucket, one rear valve and Ag tires. The dealer added a third bucket hook and a rear work light to clinch the deal. This has been a great tractor although I am not a heavy user (100 hours in 3 years). I use it for gathering and processing wood with a sawrig. It also plows my driveway (custom power angle front and 7' rear blade)as well as other chores.

Pros: Great "bang for the buck", simple instrument panel (no electronics)
Cons: Loud transmission, no transmission dip stick, no cab option
