10+ Years With This 'Tractor'
Model Year: 2003
After wearing out several cheap lawn tractors I finally bought a professional machine. It is diesel, hydrostatic, hydraulic, power steering and RUGGED. It's the best money I've ever spent, but then I bought a 2-year old $8K tractor with 35 hours on the clock and I paid $4,500. I added the optional 'cruise control' and the 3-point hitch and I've used it many times with a home built 5-foot box blade. After more than 10 years, I am 98% satisfied with this lawn tractor. I never bent a blade despite using it as a bush hog many times, It never broke (or even worn out) a belt on the deck, and never had a major problem of any kind. I gave it 5 stars across the board except for a 4 with build quality. The mowing deck rusted out after 8 years and the complex string of electrical interlocks got where it was hard to start. I bypassed most of them years ago and now it never fails to start. I have the 54-inch deck and it mows my lawn beautifully.
Pros: Excellent electric power steering, very rugged., belts last forever, powerful, high torque diesel, mower deck mounting the best I've ever seen - Nothing flimsy, yet it's easy to remove and reinstall
Cons: Poor (very poor) headlamps, too many interlocks in the starting system, mild steel mower deck is rugged, but prone to rusting out
