BX2200 Kubota
2003 BX2200
Model Year: 2003

I bought my BX2200 used with 770 hours and one owner. Having owned John Deere all my life, I was skeptical, but it has proven to be more than I expected. It is very reliable and trouble free. I have put 50 hours on it and have done nothing but put fuel in, which is just what I hoped for. I just need to get a loader next.

Pros: Reliable, great control position
Cons: Treadle pedal takes getting used to

Very good sub-compact tractor for small property owners.

Pros: Sub-compact size makes the driving good on smaller properties
Cons: 22 horsepower is sometimes not enough for deep ground implements

BX2200 Kubota
Front Piston Cracked And Ruined Engine
Model Year: 2008

The Kubota dealer said he has never heard of this happening and he does not know why. It is just ridiculous to pay $15,000 for a low-hour machine that can't even last a year. I am looking to find a knock off replacement.

Pros: It is 4-wheel drive
Cons: Low power not good for grading, blew engine, piston cracked in half

BX2200 Kubota
Takes everything I throw at it.
Model Year: 2003

My BX takes care of 1 1/4 acre with lots (30+) tree removal and brush burning. Also, snow removal and rototilling. I bought it used. The previous owner did not do the scheduled maintenance on the transmission. The issue I have is the rear axle seal housings came loose from the axle housing and started leaking. Had to drain the trans and seal the housing into the axle with red RTV. Other than that. the unit has taken all the abuse I can give it.

Pros: Works like a full size tractor
Cons: Plastice rear axle seal housing come loose and leak.

Very Pleased
Model Year: 2001

Powerful, reliable, quality, says it all. The only bad thing is that I do not like the rocker foot control. I had a JD 4100 before this and the JD Twin Touch pedals can not be beat.

Pros: No complaints except the foot control.
Cons: Needs a JD style Twin Touch foot control.

BX2200 Kubota
Doesn't Need to Be Huge
Model Year: 1999

One of the main reasons I bought my Kubota SCUT was because smallish tractors are a bit difficult to find here in Belize. I actually tried to find a larger one (30-40 HP or so), but I didn't want to wait any longer, and this one was there and ready to go. It came with a mid-mount 54" finish mower and an LA211 front loader. Well so far I have been quite impressed with him; more powerful than I expected, and economical to run. I believe I paid a fair price and will be pleased with what the little fella can do around here, a 20 acre plot with pastures, ponds and fruit and hardwood orchard.

Pros: Economical, powerful, fits in small spots, easy to transport.
Cons: 660 hours of unknown history.

BX2200 Kubota
Great Machine Has a Few Common Problems
Model Year: 2002

Bought used 220hrs. 60" belly mower, rear blade, FEL; added PTO bagger. Common problems (mine has had them all) are: - Hydraulic hoses fail way too often (incl. power steering hoses). Arm and leg to replace some because of access. - Fuel tank leaks if full and they ALL do apparently. - Brakes are utterly useless (make sure you are in low range and engine running if you need to stop! Have to use the drive). - Hood clatter is nuisance when shut off engine. Not a functional problem. - Bagger is serious and not cheap.

Pros: Power, good deck, reliable except for hoses, strong, well made. Lifetime machine.
Cons: Hoses, hoses and also hoses. No brakes. Tank leaks if full.

Tough Tractor, Needs Better Hoses
Model Year: 2001

10+ years it has been a good-tough work horse tractor overall, very tough with a few complaints. Factory hoses are crap, but Kubota replaced all hydraulic hoses, under, and some after, warranty had expired thanks to a good local dealer. No problems with engine and drive-train. Hydraulics are a little week for FEL, power steering cylinder has had to be rebuilt twice before 850 hours. Fuel tank has leak if filled up which seems to be very common issue.

Pros: Good HP, reliable, good quality MMM mows level and clean.
Cons: Weak hydraulic flow when using FEL, factory hoses don't last.

A great tractor, very easy to work on for services. Have done all maintenance myself and did not find it expensive to use genuine parts. Had the front axle seal leak and repaired myself with help from this site. overall a good buy but perhaps a bit small but gets everything done in the end.

Pros: A bit small.
Cons: Easy to work on and cheap on diesel.

Kubota BX2200
Model Year: 2000

I looked at Massey Ferguson and John Deere tractors before settling on Kubota. Deere was asking the same price for a bare tractor compared to Kubota which was set up perfectly for the use I needed, snow removal. For the same price as the bare Deere I got the Kubota, the snowblower attachment and a heated cab. The clincher was zero percent financing for five years.

Pros: Will decimate a frozen snowbank. Will clear a parking lot nearly as fast as a plow.
Cons: Won't do it without me in the cab.

All I Expected and More
Model Year: 2008

With front bucket and 5' underslung mower deck. Then I found a NOS Woods BH6000 backhoe with sub-frame for for $3,100. At that price, I had it installed by the local Kubota dealer. What a work and back saver. Still use a JD LX285 to cut the back yard and a JD LT155 with power-flo and bagger for when the grass gets too tall and fall leaf clean up. Would still like to find a small barge wagon 1.5 ton or so, but they are hard to find that small and I don't want to spend a fortune. Kory makes a nice 1.5 ton wagon but it's not a dump.

Pros: Does everything I want it to.
Cons: If you don't remove mower deck before moving dirt etc. it's easy to break scalping wheels off the mower deck.

The Little Tractor That Could
Model Year: 2001

Bought this machine second hand with 120 hours on the meter. She came with a 60" deck and loader. The previous owner used it only to move hay bales and clean out horse stalls. It mostly sat neglected in a horse barn. Biggest problem with it was the need to replace power steering hydraulic lines, which I had made locally for about $20 each. The decision to buy this machine was driven by a need to replace an aging Wheel Horse garden tractor with all of the attachments, and the desire to do extensive landscaping work. My wife had injured her shoulder helping me build a retaining wall, so we decided something with a loader would be in order. I also do logs to lumber as a hobby, so something beefy enough to drag modest logs our of a timber without tearing up the woods would be very helpful. Overall a GREAT purchase. Similar money to a new JD garden tractor with deck, and we now have a machine with a 3 point hitch. This gets you away from paying steeply at a dealership for specific attachments and allows one to buy heavy duty ones at nearly any farm store at will. We have purchased the following attachments: 3 pt: Snow king 48" Snowblower, box blade, fabricated hitch receiver with chain hooks, King Kutter 48" tiller. Front end loader: Tach-N-Go bucket adapter to allow quick changes to forks, or to move a trailer easily. Forks also fit on 3 pt. hitch for added utility. Towable: Home built log arch, can move 32" logs up to 12' long with this set up, being careful on hills due to limited braking capacity.

Pros: Great build quality, much more value than garden tractors.
Cons: Loader valve doesn't stay with tractor as with later models, limiting interchange with newer attachments.

Good Little Tractor for Small Jobs
Model Year: 1999

I use this tractor to mow 2 acres, haul mulch, dirt and gravel. I also use it for light logging work and hauling fire wood. I have had a few issues: fuel tank leaks around the sending unit, had to replace two rear PTO shaft seals, and the hood has cracked at the front corners. Other than that it has been a great little tractor. For its size it will do an amazing amount of work.

Pros: Compact size. Great power.
Cons: Mower deck is hard to get off and on, rattling hood that cracks.

Awesome Little Tractor
Model Year: 2004

I worked at the dealership that this tractor was purchased from. So I got to set-up and pre-deliver the machine myself. It is set-up with a loader, belly mount mower, and a rear blade. I use it mostly for lawn mowing and snow removal on a small acreage. The little thing is simply amazing to do the things it does. I have a long lane on my property (about 1/8th. of a mile) and use the Kubota to maintain it with no problems.

Pros: Compact, efficient, easy to operate, and simply amazing.
Cons: About two sizes smaller than I really should have.

BX2200
Model Year: 2001

The BX2200 is a fuel efficient, flexible, machine for a home owner with property to take care of. I use the mid-mount mower and loader weekly for tasks ranging from landscaping and firewood hauling to mowing and taking out the garbage. It's very useful. I was concerned about buying a 13 year old machine vs. a new one, but it works great and I expect this to continue well into the future. I look forward to trying out more attachments including a snow plow, blower and chipper. 4WD is very helpful on were steep hills here in the pacific northwest. The grass bagger is a PITA to put on and take off. It sure would have been nice if it was linked to the 3-pt hydraulics somehow.

Pros: Fuel economy, mowing, reliability.
Cons: Lift capacity could be higher on loader.

Never Fixed
Model Year: 2001

We spend approx. $500 per year in maintenance and a few of the problems have never been completely rectified. 1. Hydraulic fluid leaks: we had the 3 lines replaced but it still leaks. 2. Mower deck does not stay at the level we select even after the cam was replaced. 3. One safety switch broke and had to be replaced twice to allow the machine to start. Now we have to quickly turn the key about 20 times to start it if the engine is warm. Very frustrating even though my wife & I love to cut grass with it.

Pros: Easy and fun to drive, cuts well.
Cons: Maintenance.
