B7100HST Kubota
Awesome Compact Tractor
Model Year: 1991

I can't say enough about this compact tractor. It's pritty much just like the seller {Zimmers of Brookville IN} told me - 'maintenance free'. I have the 60-inch Land Pride finish mower, backhoe and post hole digger, plus it came with a front blade. I added a electric water pump (they over heat without it). also I added heavy duty snow chains. its like a little bulldozer now. I can up-root small trees (1-3 in diameter). I don't like to ram hard because once it caused the drive shaft to disconnect from the engine, plus I'm sure that's not good for the battery plates and other not thought of items right now. If you raise the back mower deck a few inches and press the 4-wheel drive lock with the heel of your left foot, you get 25 times more traction, which good for when you get stuck in mud, etc.. I live in Indiana and have some wooded areas with a pond, so it's perfect to keep the little road down at my well across the road. I don't think I could do without it at my age here. The dealer told me they were not sure but it was around 1977, but after digging for the engine number etc, I found that it is a 1991 make which makes sense, since the paint and everything looked fairly new. I could blab all day about this tractor, so thanks for reading.

Pros: Many
Cons: Add a electric water pump

B7100HST Kubota
Totally Reliable Carryall and Slasher
Model Year: 1980

Not sure of the exact year of manufacture. Bought about 20 years ago with 600 hrs on the clock, since then only serviced every few years but then fully. This is the most reliable machine on the property. Too light for grading hard ground or making deep furrows but great for getting around the place and carrying loads---even on really steep slopes where I wouldn't venture with other tractors. It's better than a quad bike for safety and carrying capacity.

Pros: Utterly reliable and simple to use.
Cons: Too light to do some tractor tasks, but does more than you'd reasonably expect.

B7100HST Kubota
Hot and Cold
Model Year: 1982

Tends to overheat when bush hogging. This is due to the rearward-blowing radiator fan, which draws chaff into the radiator, plugging it up. Also, water gets into the front axle, freezing in winter, rendering it inoperable.

Pros: Extreme frame and axle strength for a 16 Hp tractor. Hydro-static drive makes it safer to use in the woods than a gear drive tractor.
Cons: Overheats easily.

B7100HST Kubota
Don't Make Them Like This Anymore
Model Year: 1989

My father bought this new back in 1989 when little tractors were made like big ones. It is now irreplaceable. I use it every week of the year for one thing or another. Easiest tractor I have to trailer around. Less than 18Hp CUTs now look like lawnmowers. Take one into the mud and they act like it. Try to get any dealer to sell you a new tractor this size with Ag R1 tires - won't happen, not available. you might be able to get something comparable grey-market, used out of Japan, but not otherwise available here. Even the Kubota dealer where it gets serviced treats it with reverence. Best if it has a bucket. Mudfarmer

Pros: An actual tractor with good traction. Will move even up to the hubs in mud. All metal.
Cons: No power steering. Idiot light only for heat, no gauge. Like most tractors of it's age, need to blow the lines if fuel runs out.

B7100HST Kubota
Kubota B7100HST
Model Year: 1991

Was looking at a new one, but found this for £800 so a steal. Replaced my old JD LT 155 and I've never looked back. In fact I should have done it years ago. Being old there are plenty of pimping opportunities too, like lights and gauges etc.! It really is fantastic machine and I still can't believe how much more you can do out in the field in so much less time for so much less fuel cost. Spares were available over the counter too when the water pump failed due to old age.

Pros: Just like a big tractor, easy to use, spares not a problem, cheap.
Cons: Could be more powerful.

B7100HST Kubota
Kubota 7100HST
Model Year: 1985

This is a great tractor if you have a flat lawn. However, it is severely underpowered for a 60 inch mower deck going up any sort of hill. The snow blower works great and will throw snow up to 100 feet but again the engine is underpowered for doing the job quickly. The ROPS feature is a major inconvenience as I have an orchard. There is no hinge to lower the upper half and the Kubota dealer will not remove under any conditions. This all sounds like I am unhappy with the tractor but the reality is I am happy with it. The engine starts better than any diesel tractor I ever drove and the power steering is heaven sent. Swapping the snow blower to mower deck is easier than that of a John Deere by a couple of hours.

Pros: Mid PTO, starting, 3-pt hitch.
Cons: Underpowered to the point of useless in hill country.

B7100HST Kubota
An Old Kubota B7100HST
Model Year: 1983

This 30 year old tractor has been fine considering it is used about 75 hours a year and gets maintained "by the book". I have a 60 inch mid-mount mower and a 48 inch front mount snow blower, both made for the tractor by Kubota. I also own a rear mount brush hog, a rear mount roto-tiller and and a rear blade. I do have a problem with Kubota's parts support for this machine. Lately, I am being told that a particular part "is no longer available", especially for attachments purchased at the same time as the tractor. Friends of mine have 50 year old tractors where parts are readily available. I would like to think that Kubota would understand that their products might be purchased based on features and reliability and not considered a throw-away or wear-out item. Thus even though very old they are still in use and require parts for the occasional breakdown.

Pros: Reliably works well, fun to use.
Cons: Parts supply for this older model's attachments.

Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 1983

This little tractor doesn't realize it's small. Only change I will make is a little more aggressive tire tread. I use 60in. belly mower, 4ft.bush hog.or 60in. finish mower. HST really handy in heavy grass or weeds.

Pros: Tight handling.
Cons: Kinda hard to get on and off with 6'2" /240 frame.

B7100HST Kubota
A Brand New Used Kubota
Model Year: 1981

I buy a B7100HST-D with all the original paint. So clean it's like a new. I use it with the front snowblower B222A and the 4 weels drive is appreciate. The only drawback it's the snowblower attachment. It's really not a quick connect but the tractor is perfect for the price (may be better than a real new one).

Pros: Reliable solid machine.
Cons: Not for now, maybe in 5-6 years I will be able to add some cons here.

B7100HST Kubota
Incredible For Its Age
Model Year: 0

My old Kubota B7100HST has been one of the most reliable machines i have ever used. Although quite old and neglected when I first bought it 2nd hand, it has performed almost faultlessly since I have owned it and I do things with it which are really straining it. The thing it is most often used for is mowing with an old mid-mounted mower deck which has had rust cut out of it 3 times since I had it. Apart from a change of bearings and many blades, the deck still works quite well and does a very neat job. Often in grass which is really too heavy for it, I just go slower. Around the house lawns, it is as neat as a hand mower. I notice now that the motor has started to lose oil pressure whilst idling after heavy work so I will use the very practical information in your forums to isolate the problem.

Pros: Incredible reliability.
Cons: Thermal siphon cooling system get a bit hot with heavy work.

Terrific for the Price and Workability
Model Year: 1984

Great for plowing snow, deeper than you can drive through, managing livestock poo, digging, grading & helping the neighbors.

Pros: Operation is easy (HST!). Versatility is terrific.
Cons: Maintenance is med-high, but expected for a 1984 tractor!

B7100HST Kubota
Amazing Little Machine
Model Year: 1996

I bought my b71000 for $3000..It had been used to retrieve golf balls from a local course. The bonnet was peppered with dents! Started first time and was great on hills, due to the 4WD and low center of gravity. Always seemed to have plenty of torque at the wheels and never let me down for traction. My only complaint is that it was not bush fire resistant, as the poor little B7100 died in one! I've just bought another; same year. I give the machine 5 stars!

Pros: Reliable, robust, and quality.
Cons: Can't push a house over.

Good
Model Year: 1988

For the price I paid it is impossible to buy a better tractor. My B7001 HST have a heated cabin, Kubota tiller loader fork for lifting, and a Kubota blower. Good going little tractor. Working in the forest garden and open my 600 feet driveway.

Pros: Good.
Cons: No rem.

Kubota Compact
Model Year: 1991

Nice machine so far. I bought it via a public auction with less than 250 hours on it. It is in near new condition and you can tell it was very well taken care of.

Pros: Well built (heavy duty) machine.
Cons: No power steering; a bit weak on HP for the weight of the tractor, but it does well for my use.

Purchased used with front loader and three point backhoe. More power than anticipated. Not yet fully tested as I have several projects this spring that will really put it through some paces. Looking forward to using it and really seeing what it will do.

Pros: Ppower for the size.
Cons: Steering.

B7100HST Kubota
Kubota - Poor Repair Parts Availability
Model Year: 1983

Twenty two years and 2100 hours should not make a diesel tractor obsolete. Kubota's repair parts stocking policy is causing me to replace this tractor. The main culprit seems to be parts for attachments. I own a 48" Kubota snow blower and a 60" mid-mount Kubota mower deck. These seem to break down pretty regularly. (The tractor itself has been very reliable.) For the past five years, I have tried to order parts that were no "longer available". I've gone so far as having parts made by a machine shop. Additionally, the cost of parts seems very, very high. A rubber covered gauge roller for the mower cost over three hundred dollars, and the front gauge wheels were $115 each. With time, as certain parts become "scarce" because of Kubota's stocking policy, the cost goes out of sight. Kubota USA should review its parts availability policy. In Japan people apparently replace tractors and cars after only a few years. Here it is not uncommon to see tractors from the 1950's still in service.

Pros: Tractor runs great, attachments not so much.
Cons: Attachment reliability, repair parts pricing.

1982 Kubota B7100 HST
Model Year: 1982

What can I say, it just keeps going and going. Been parked outside for over 20 years. Use it with 60" belly mower to keep 3 acres cut. Put in 52 fence posts with post hole attachment. Graded land in the 1980's with a box scraper. Push show in the winter, backwards, with a rear blade. It never fails to start, even in below zero temperatures. Replaced muffler and rusted through freeze plugs a couple of years ago. Had radiator flushed and a leak brazed around 2001. I added a full Michigan suspension seat 3 years ago, since my age made bouncing around while mowing a real pain. If you have one of these, make sure you keep the radiator very clean, especially at the bottom, or you will overheat on hot days. I don't know how new Kubotas are, but they sure got it right when they made the B7100.

Pros: Runs forever.
Cons: Could use a few more horses.

Model Year: 1994

I use this Kubota for yard work and have bought or built attachments for it. It is a very strong tractor for it's size. Starts even in coldest weather I work it year round. I added power steering several years age which is excellent when using the FEL.

Pros: Strong little tractor.
Cons: No power steering.

Great Tractor
Model Year: 1994

I have a 60" belly mower, 48" front mount snow blower and have a 60" rear blade. All accessories work great. The only issue is to change from the belly mower to the snow blower, there are many bolts and frame mounts that must be changed. Wish I had gone up one model to have quick disconnect options for the accessories.

Pros: Great running and no problems for 18 years.
Cons: No quick disconnect mounts for attachments.
