1026R John Deere
Overall Good Tractor
Model Year: 2012

Previously owned a JD 318 for 25 years, purchased my 1026R in 2012. Immediately saw QA issues. Gas tank fender didn't fit properly had to be replaced; gap didn't match other side fender. Next issue at 50 hr. I changed transmission fluid, very difficult to get drain plug out and filter. I noticed the drain plug was missing a washer. Had to take the drain plug out with a bolt out, thus had to order a new plug. The new plug and washer took 4 days. The dealer should have had plugs in stock. Overall a good tractor with less quality as compared to my old 318.

Pros: Good overall tractor.
Cons: Poor attention to detail seeing their prices.

Second day of ownership loaded 8 ft truck bed to the rail with pea gravel. Would have loaded more, but the bump stops were to the axle. Noted the ride was a little rough. Looked under the seat and saw the springs were laying under the suspension seat frame. One call to Ag-Power in Rhome, TX, and they ordered a new seat base. They are coming out Saturday to install it! The power was great. It took some practice to get used to a joystick FEL, but I'm finally getting it.

Pros: Power, easy controls, quick connect mower is very handy.
Cons: Hoping new seat base has more support.

Extremely Satisfied JD1026R
Model Year: 2013

Received delivery last week on my JD1026R. I used my 647 Tiller and converted my intended garden of 20 x 30 into a garden of 50 x 80. The machine kept going and it was so much fun that I lost my intentions of a smaller garden. I used the FEL to remove some blacktop and it worked super. Then I got it in my mine that some of my lawn needed to be replanted, so off I went again with the tiller. This week I will have the Posthole Digger and Fertilizer Spreader delivered. My wife is waiting for the fence to go up so she can start planting the garden. I want to use the spreader to do the lawn. Next week my rear blade, rack and box blade will be delivered. My driveway, which is stone, is waiting. I want to thank Power Place Inc. in Lebanon, NJ for their consideration is my final purchase of this fine tractor. They are a super bunch of people to work with. If your in the market for anything, John Deere, give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Pros: Everything, including the dealership where I brought the tractor.
Cons: Nothing that would be worth mentioning.

John Deere 1026R in New Zealand
Model Year: 2012

John Deere are heading in the right direction with the 1026R but for New Zealand it lacks power. A turbo charger that would bring it up to 30-35 horse power would be great. Adjustable rear wheel centers would also be a great for a better center of gravity.

Pros: 60D auto connect mid-mount mower.
Cons: It's about time they made a rear discharge mid-mount mowe

This little tractor is worth the money. I have a the small bucket on the H120 loader. Also have a set of 48" pallet forks, 5' rear blade and ballast box. Also have the 54" quick connect deck. It does everything I want it to do. I have had some issues with the loader wanting to dump when trying to feather the curl back. It is worse with the forks on the loader. JD is supposed to have a fix in progress. I am not the only one with the loader problem. Other than that I am satisfied with it. The 25.2hp diesel engine gives it plenty of power. The shift on the fly 4x4 is also very nice.

Pros: H120 loader, quick connect deck, shift on the fly 4X4.
Cons: Bucket dump when feathering curl.

Waiting for Delivery
Model Year: 2013

I am very excited about the delivery of my 1st tractor on 4/5/13. I have purchased, the 1026r because of the dealership, for I did a lot of research and tried 2 other brands before my decision was made. All the tractors were similar in price and what they can do, but it came down to the dealership. I started out with a FEL and a 647 tiller and from there I ended up with a Frontier 2060 landscape rake, 2060 rear blade, 2048 box blade, 2036 Broadcast spreader, 3000 psi JD Pressure Washer, PHD100 Posthole Digger w/9"auger, and a 18 cu. ft. utility cart. I'm still considering a set of Pallet Forks and a 2048E Core aerator. Needless to say, my wife has already told me that I will be using the lighting system that I had installed and I will get a break only at lunch and dinner time. We had considered the backhoe, however after talking to our local equipment rental center, I can rent a machine for $450.00 a day which means that I can do a lot of rentals for the price I would've paid for the backhoe that would sit around most of the time. I will come back to let you know how everything turns out in about 3 months after I puts some hours on this machine.

Pros: It's GREEN and the dealership.
Cons: To follow, if I find any.

Fun Little Tractor
Model Year: 2012

I bought this tractor to mow around my pond, I wanted something my wife would use. She got used to it very quickly, and said it was fun to drive. I have a zero turn mower that she wants nothing to do with...power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, cruze control, 4 wheel drive---what's not to like? Okay it's not a mustang convertable...sorry, Dear. I got the quick tach loader and bucket I've probabaly taken on and off 30 times. Autoconnect mower deck..great! No more crawling on the ground to put belt on. Had some problems hooking mower till I greased the driveshaft coupler real good. Got 54" snowblower, works good. Also use 48" Kingcutter tiller plenty of power for tiller even in hard clay. Looked at Kubota and Kioti. Quick connect loader bucket and quick connect deck sold me.

Pros: Quick connect bucket, and mower deck.
Cons: Won't mow in reverse.

Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 2012

I got this to replace a lawn tractor with hundreds of hours service on it. I wanted a bigger tractor with a hydro trans and without a loader (I have a bigger tractor with that). The first thing I learned is do not run this thing out of fuel! I used to mow for 4 hours on my old rig and gas up. This thing goes for weeks without fuel! I go about 6 to 8 hours between fuel stops. The ride, ease of use and the fact this thing rides like a caddy are all welcome details. I also got a small rototiller that works very well, and I have a tiller both are i-match hook up witch is real nice for an old guy! I find I use this unit more then the other one simply because its so much easier to use!

Pros: It's a Deere.
Cons: Local Deere dealer need help.

1026R Real Tractor
Model Year: 2012

Very impressed with loader performance for the size of tractor. Moves more then I expected (coming from a heavy equipment operator). Really like the 3pth quick hitch, so easy to switch implements. Added LED rear work light. Added rear hyd remote. Presently adapting a front mount blade to fit tractor 7''6" wide tractor handles this blade in snow really well.

Pros: Quality tractor, very close in price to Kubota BX2660 $300.00 more but a lot more features I liked.
Cons: None so far.

I reviewed many websites trying to evaluate my needs for my first tractor and purchased the 1026R. The tractor has been great, except for my desire to have better performance, more "umph", if you will, when working hard. My little tractor has been great but I'm looking at upgrading to the 2720.

Pros: Great little tractor.
Cons: Little tractor.

I really like the versatility of the 1026r, I do a lot more than just mow a yard and the tractor is a excellent piece of equipment.

Pros: Power and versitility.
Cons: Be sure to have the tires loaded or it will be top heavy.

I Am In Love with My 1026R
Model Year: 2012

Got my 1026r with belly mower, FEL, and rear blade delivered by the same person that sold it to me. It was delayed due to high demand and factory overload so waited two weeks longer than promised delivery date. My salesman took off over 100 dollars off price for delay.---without me asking. When delivered, salesman spent over an hour training me on how to attach/reattach all items. All went smooth except mower---rear spring loaded locking required some jiggling of the mower deck. I got all of the easy attach stuff including the drive over deck. I have attached and unattached all of the add-ons with great success. I have filled the FEL with patio blocks to the brim and hauled to back of rolling property without ballast box and with our problem. I have mowed down super tough tomato plants from drought season without any discernible dip in RPMs from the 25 hp Yanmar. In fact, | have done several things to test this motor and it performs way beyond expectations. Everything Deere made for this SCUT was as if they were doing it for a much bigger tractor. For those of you interested in fuel economy, I remember someone saying they had 40 hours on their tractor before filling (5.5 gal). I think they might have been mistaken as I had just short of 10 hours, which is still awesome in my book (I had a JD 40 before which guzzled gas). All in all, on my 5.5 acre Shang-Ri-La, I am extremely pleased with my tractor, its attachments, and my dealership. - SCUTBoss

Pros: Workhorse.
Cons: Shakes and rattles when you turn it off.

1026R John Deere
1026r
Model Year: 2012

I don’t know, maybe I got caught in all the John Deere hype, or the sandman threw some green pixel dust in my eyes. Either way, I ended up with a 2012 1026r JD in my pole barn. In a nut shell, this tractor is over rated and underpowered. It’s like someone just pimped my 425. The tractor starts easy and runs well. It’s comfortable to drive and steers nicely. The tractor is easy to get on and off. The controls are accessible to the operator and easy to operate. The folding ROPS is a nice feature. The brake pedal being on the left side may be cumbersome for some. The tractor is loaded with plastic. The hood shakes and may at times be hard to latch. John Deere has come out with a solution for this and I am waiting for it to be installed. The tractor accessories were a big selling point for me. The idea of easy on and off mower deck quickly got my attention. They demonstrated this feature at the dealer. Yes, it did go right on and off with no problem. The question I failed to ask was how well does it cut the grass. I can now answer that question. It mows poorly. It’s uneven, and occasionally scalps. The other accessory I got was the H 120 Front End Loader. This is a nice feature but this is where the tractor lacks power. If I had to do it over again I would take another look at the Kubota or even a Yanmar.

Pros: Folding ROPS, good running engine.
Cons: Too much plastic, underpowered, mower deck cuts poorly.

JD 1026R
Model Year: 2012

I guess the final decision to buy the JD was the foldable ROPS as the Kubota BX2660 did not have one available. I wish I would have reconsidered as the mower has never hooked up like they demonstrated at the dealership. Way too much plastic and the hood is very flimsy. Also, the engine mounts stick outside the frame which looks funky. The neighbor likes his Kubota and wish I would have looked a little harder before the green purchase. Could use more foot room on the platform.

Pros: Price was better than the Kubota with my JD lawn mower trade.
Cons: Could be better built just from appearance alone.

1026R John Deere
Very Nice, But Lots of Plastic and Finicky SCV
Model Year: 2012

I'm really loving this tractor so far. The only real complaints I have is the overabundance of plastic used on the tractor hood/fenders and the SCV control for the FEL seems a bit finicky in a few situations. For example, I can't raise the boom and dump the bucket at the same time; it will only let me raise it or dump it, not both at once. This feels more like an issue with the SCV itself rather than the hydraulic flow capacity, as it has yet to seem like it's low on pressure for anything I've done with it yet. It may have something to do with the speed dump option for the bucket. Would prefer not to have that if I could simply perform both tasks at once. Lastly, it takes one really heavy ballast box to offset the weight of a full FEL bucket with the standard H120 bucket. I've found myself having to use the MFWD just to back up slight inclines since I can't seem to fit any more ballast in the box (I don't have the extenders).

Pros: Very strong machine for it's size/ratings. Easy to handle when properly ballasted.
Cons: Lots of plastic. Poor SCV design for FEL use.

Nice Tractor/Poor Mower
Model Year: 2012

Traded in my JD720 for this 1026R. Never had a problem with the 720, but thought the extra attachments would be handy. I bought 60" mid-mount deck and cannot get a even cut. Dealer has leveled deck twice but discharge side cuts 1" shorter. I am thinking of using 30 love-it offer.

Pros: Plenty of power.
Cons: Poor mowing.

Mountain Fire Prevention
Model Year: 2012

I live in the mountains 45 miles west of Colorado Springs, CO at 8800'. Fire prevention is a big deal here. We have to lop lower branches to eliminate ladder fuel, clear dead fall and dry twigs, etc. and mow the wild grass around the house. I only have a little more than 2 acres, most of it at a 25¼ angle. I was able to use the FEL to remove 12 buckets full of limbs and branches I had cut earlier. It was a snap! The little tractor runs beautifully and performs flawlessly. I have a ballast box for the FEL, a 48" rotary mower to tackle the grassy hillsides, and a 54" QH blade to handle the snow. This is a great toy and a great help.

Pros: Reliability and flexibility.
Cons: None.

1026r First Day's Usage
Model Year: 2012

I'm just loving this machine as it's perfect for my needs. I can grade the 600' driveway, mow the grass and look forward to snow blowing the driveway this winter. It's my first JD and first diesel tractor after using a Cub 1642 for nearly 20 years. The drive-on mid-mount deck is awesome.

Pros: Quality, reputation, comfort, ease of use.
Cons: Safety kill switch on reverse when using the mid -mount PTO.

Very Well Built Tractor, But...
Model Year: 2012

The tractor is very well built. The biggest issue I have is the quick attach mower. You are supposed to be able to just drive on and drive away. NOT. I have yet to have it work right the first time without a lot of cursing.

Pros: Compact.
Cons: Tippy.

John Deere 1026R Tractor with Loader and Backhoe
Model Year: 2012

Love the tractor, and the Yanmar diesel is reliable, strong, and fuel efficient. This tractor has all the features of a large tractor but just in a compact efficient version. 4 wheel drive has been a savior at times. Locking differential has also helped. The Yanmar Diesel burns very clean, yet I didn’t like the exhaust directed toward the front bucket. At times working around the front of the tractor, I could smell exhaust. I fabricated an exhaust stack and now it’s perfect. I never smell any exhaust while working around the tractor. This tractor has lived up to my best expectations.

Pros: Efficient, strong, reliable. Perfect for all my digging, loading and hauling projects.
Cons: Exhaust low and toward front bucket. I installed a stack and now it's perfect.
