I guess "Parts/Repairs" is the closest thing we have to a tools forum, so I will ask this here.
Has anyone used the Zerust treated drawer liners? They look like a normal rubber anti-slip liner, but are treated with something to prevent rust. Here is the company website:

Zerust Consumer Products Ltd. - Home

Lowe's also sells it online, but apparently not in stores.

I currently have the drawer liners that came with my toolbox, but they seem to cause rust, certainly don't prevent it. Some tools that don't get used often, stick to the liner and sometimes have started rusting where they stick to the liner.

I have considered getting some of the zerust liners, but wondered if anyone had tried them and what they think of them.
TIA, jp

This is the first I have heard of them. I will be watching this thread to see how it comes out.
Unfortunately, Jan this year, I spent 2 days adjusting the tray roller frames, cleaning, de-rusting and painting inside and out on the trays and frame on my old craftsman tool box that I have had for 23 year. After cleaning and repainting, I put in some of the roll type rubberized woven matting from Wally World. I guess that when I go back home in Feb, I had better check to see how this is holding up. The paint had held up really good considering the age and environment it has set in all that time and not nearly as much dirt and debris as I thought would have accumulated in 23 years.

I have no doubt they work. From the looks of their website the drawer liners are nothing more than a drawer liner treated with VCI (vapor corrosion inhibitors). The problem is that the VCI works by releasing vapor and eventually it wears out or should I say is depleated. So eventually the liners would not be effective at preventing rust anymore.

VCI treated paper and other products have been around for a very long time. Ever buy a part that has a little piece of heavy brown paper in the box, it's VCI treated paper. Manufacturers use it to prevent rust of their products while they set on the shelf so the customer doesn't get a rusty new part.

I have been using VCI treated paper and packs for years in my toolbox's and storage cabinets. I use VCI packs in my toolbox's. The packs are easy to use and don't get in the way in the toolbox. In drawers and cabinets where I store my machine tools like lathe chucks and other machine tooling and drawers where I store not frequently used measurement tools I use the VCI treated paper. I replace the paper and packs every couple of years. I buy most of my VCI treated products from Daubert VCI Paper

OK, thanks for that link and advice. The packs sound better than having to remove all the tools, replace the liner, then put all the tools back. Then do it all over again in two years. Seems much easier to just swap out a little pack or disc in each drawer.

But on the website you referenced, there are quite a few choices for what they call "emitters". I narrowed it down to a few that seem like what I need, and are in small enough quantities to be reasonably priced. The little 1"X1" squares, the 1"X3" strips, or the 1"X1" paper chips. I was wondering which ones you use? The paper chips seem to be the best priced, 2,000 pcs. for about the same price as 1,000 of the foam squares.

I have used a similar anti rust emitter in my gun safes. I thought about trying them in my tool boxes, but since they are not sealed up like a gun safe. I didn't think that they would last very long. I guess I will just have to try one. Be alot better than wiping everything down with WD-40.

I use cardboard for my tool box drawer liners. Always have.

Clean and dry your tools before putting them away and you won't have to worry about any rust.

Do you guys have problems with your tools getting rusty ?

I dont per say. Most of my tools have a good chrome coating. Some of my wood planes are bare iron, they get a coat of lps if they're not going to be used for a while.

I have a unheated shop and sometimes when we have a sudden warm up after a really cold spell everything sweats. So I try to wipe down what I can and spray every thing with WD40.
