kubota zd21
I have a kubota zd21 and have had alot safety switch issues in past but never had a problem like i do now. I went to turn the mower over and no power from the ignition or light harness at all. no battery light, no glow plug light, no fuel gauge movement. My wife said she has been having a problem with the mower not shutting down when she would turn the switch off, so i figured maybe I needed a new switch; $80.00 later still no power from the switch. So i pulled all the fuses in wire harness by motor and all fuses are good; decided to volt meter check the main fuse system and there is no power to the main system fuse. Any idea if there maybe a relay somewhere that power passes thru before going to main system fuses? or is this maybe a safety switch issue again?

tested battery and has a full charge

Hi did you check the positive and neg battery cables

I had a ZD21 that went dead, wouldn’t crank or do anything. I got my test light out on the big plug under the ignition switch. If I remember right there’s a main power wire, red I think, that was pulled back in the socket and not making connection. Pull that plug off the back of the switch and make sure the terminals are locked in the socket correctly

my grasshopper had similar issues.
get a good test light , start at the battery test it first. and follow the smaller wire from the starter/starter relay, it should be hot up to the switch or a series of safety switches, I by pass all switches and made my key hot, it started right up, I went back one by one and put in series one switch at a time until I found the left rudder safety switch was at fault. I must admit, I made a permanent bypass and went on my way.

I had the battery ground cable break right at the crimped eyelet that bolts to the frame. The cable crosses over under the engine and grounds about a foot or so ahead of the starter. I was mowing the barrow ditch half a mile from the house when it did it. Just quit and I had no power anywhere. Might take a look at that.

Not certain with your exact model but similar ones show a slow blow 30 amp fuse coming off the battery and feeding almost everything.

If there is a metal strap battery terminal instead of an old style lead one sometimes the connector for the fuse block by the battery will get corroded up and loose contact from the strap terminal and you will loose all power to the key switch and glow plug circuits.

As you haven't replied I'm hoping you have it sorted, if not............
Power to the main slow blow fuse comes from the starter motor main terminal, which in turn is supplied from the battery.

I have a similar problem where the Kubota ZD21 is electrically dead. I've checked continuity on pretty much every wire there is on this thing and everything appears good. It is just you when turn the ignition over there is zero life in the mower. Also I have bypassed all of the safety switches and the battery is at 12.6 volts or so.

I hoping there is a brain that can explain what I found out today. If I hook up positive from the battery (or the main post that goes into the solenoid) and connect it to the "out" on the slow blow fuse the indicator lights turn on and you hear fuel pump click on.

I bought a new starter solenoid thinking that might be the problem but its still dead. Does the fat red wire that goes into the solenoid also run into the slow blow fuse? And if so, is there something wrong with the solenoid that isn't connecting to the rest of the mower?

You were told on the "ORANGE" forum you have the RED wire on the wrong terminal on the starter solenoid.
It should be on the same terminal that the battery cable is on.
