Looking at buying a z910a with a 54" deck. Just wondering if anyone can tell me how well they mow? It's got a 20.5 hp kawi. Thought maybe that was a little small for that mower and deck size? Any help would be appreciated.

Will be just fine if mulching or discharging but if you want to bag would be nicer to either have 48" deck or z920 w 54" deck for a good power match.

Thanks. I don't plan on bagging so it shouldn't be an issue. Appreciate the response.

I own that exact mower and can tell you it cuts fantastic! Mine has the 22hp Kawasaki (before they redid their hp ratings) and it will bog slightly where leaves accumulate in my yard from some oak and magnolia trees but I just slow down slightly and it catches up very fast. I don't think you can run a bagger on this mower or it wasn't an option when I bought. I do wish it had the mulch on demand option though. Deere really did a great job correcting the shortcomings of the 800 series and the 900 series had been getting rave reviews from commercial owners/operators. The other plus with getting the 54" deck is you get the wide rear tires which helps greatly with the ride. I'm going to add a suspension seat to mine and I would suggest you do too. The mower doesn't ride that rough but my yard is bumpy as they come and I figured a suspension seat might help.

I'm gonna see how it rides and may get the suspension seat too. My lawn is bumpy as well. Glad to hear it cuts fantastic. Any issues other than the slight bogging?

the slight bogging only occurs when there are a BUNCH of leaves. I guess I should use the blower to blow them around before cutting the grass, but just too lazy:laughing: the mower has never wanted to choke down on me though. I will tell you that the engines do drink some gas, not the worst I've ever seen but they do use fuel. as for reliability I've used mine for 3 straight years and had no problems whatsoever. none.

Sounds good. I'm not using it commercially so it should last me a long time. I mow 5-6 acres and have cub cadet ltx 1040 with a 42" deck lol. This'll be a HUGE step up. Takes me a little over 6 hours to mow my lawn. I have a ton of trees and stuff to mow around.

got me to wondering what a suspension seat cost. does anyone know? i have a 2012 z 920
w/54" deck and so far i really like it. mow about two acres. my yard too is rough and bumpy
also the dealer priced me a mulching kit- blades and damper for $ 280.00 did't seem too bad cheaper than the mulch on demand feature though

I think the bracket is $300 from JD but I was reading on lawnsite.com the other day and apparently you can buy the same bracket on eBay for around $150. Deere gets it from a company and adds a few $$$ to the price. I wish I could have got the mulch on demand on my 910a even if it costs $900. I switched to Gator blades this year and they're doing ok so far.

I looked on ebay a little bit and you can get the bracket cheaper. Picking my mower up today. I feel like a little kid on christmas morning. :)
