At a garage sale on Saturday I purchased an '07 vintage Homelite gas powered 26cc blower...$8 and it looked like it had been used very little. Tried it this morning, put in fresh fuel and a new plug but it won't run properly when the choke is off. Came in to see if I could see what the carb settings should be....a Youtube video showed me the "proper way" to make carb settings to the "tamper proof" factory setup: Use a Dremel to remove the aluminum raised area around the needles, then you can remove the needles with a tiny pair of long nose pliers, and then slot the heads to provide adjustment...
Honestly, does the EPA really think making it difficult to adjust the carb settings on a multitude of tiny 26cc engines is going to make THAT much difference in air pollution? Imagine the air pollution that will be created by the people who end up driving to the repair shop with a 6000 pound gas guzzler because they cannot adjust the carbs themselves. Imagine the waste of resources involved in building a new blower, as well as the landfill space wasted when people toss their old blowers because repairs are not a do-it-yourself project or financially practical....
Another brilliant move by those who know...the same morons who gave us those (censored) worthless, expensive "spill proof" gas cans....
