You\'re gonna think I\'m nuts.

I've done a lot of searching, loads of reading here and came to the conclusion of either the Kubota 7800 or the NH TC29. Tell my wife..the CFO... of my educated decision and some of the details, including the amount of horsepower. Her response was... "you should get something bigger than that..at bare minimum 30 HP or higher!"...
Why am I nuts you ask? I ARGUED! I said I don't need anything bigger... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

ps... she insisted I post this when I told her you guys would think I was nuts.

I think theres something to be said for making a decision based on chassis class rather than model when it comes to compacts. Once you decide on the class then buy at the top end. This gives some margin of error for those unexpected tasks. jimg

And there is even one more advantage to giving in and getting the bigger tractor...

"Honey, that was a great idea you had about going with the bigger tractor...now if we just had a smaller one too, like a Kubota bx or similar...just think of how much more we could get done...the big one is a little hard on the grass and...and..."

As we've been progressing toward buying our country property, all of our talk has been about MY tractor and the different implements I'll be getting for it.

Then one day we're going some place, and we're just chit chatting about stuff. Out of the blue, the wife asks if I plan on mowing the lawn with the tractor.

Sooo, I very casually ask her why she's asking.

She says...."Well, didn't you tell me once that you learned from your "tractor buddies" that a larger tractor can tear up the yard?" Having learned a long time ago to never stretch the truth (read that as Lie!), I say, "well, yes it could happen if you don't go slow enough."

Before I've gotten the complete sentence out of my mouth, she says..."O.K. then. We don't want the yard all tore up, so I want one of those ride 'em mowers that spin around in circles." I start to say that I can certainly look at those, but there are a lot of factors in deciding which machine we should get.

She goes on to say, "And since I'm going to be the one doing the mowing, I'll decide which one I get." /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I ask her, "What makes you think you'll be doing the mowing?" She replies, "You'll be too busy playing......er......working with your tractor. You won't have the time! Besides, you're not having ALL of the fun!" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
