Hello
I have searched old threads on this tractor and have learned a lot about it. I have an opportunity to buy a 1984 with 855 hours in excellent working condition with new tires and brakes. It had a new clutch installed last year and comes with a 6' loader bucket, 5' brush hog, and 4way hydraulic plow blade.

The owner has asked me to make an offer, which makes me leary because I am new to tractors, my research indicates this is a good quality desirable tractor. I am in CT and the tractor is in RI.

Any thoughts on what this might be worth, where to start negotiating?

Thanks
Pat

Hello Pat and Welcome to TBN.

Some may disagree with my opinion but there are several variables: Your area, the size, model and condition of the tractor and it's maintenance history to name a few. Any larger, basic Yanmar tractor that's a "D" model under 1000 hours should be valued at $6000. minimum. The loader and bush hog (used) should be assessed at a minimum of $2K to $3K depending on condition. The owner of the tractor (dealer-private party) will also affect the price.

If you were to go and inspect the tractor and take a friend who is tractor savvy, drive, test and look thoroughly and decide you are truly interested, I would offer $7500. It may be less of an insult than you believe, as he may need cash or is slightly desperate to sell. If he refuses, have him counter offer and take it from there. When you get into 6 figures, you have to consider other tractors and bargains in the same price range.....and what your budget allows.

Good Luck,

Mark

I, like Mark, would say $8-10,000, but would offer $7,000 just to see where his head is. Make him tell you what he wants for it.

Just as a ref point I gave almost $10k for my tractor with a new FEL and mower. Had 1200 hrs on the tach.

Pat,

Good advice here. I'm about 40 min from the RI border. I don't know how far away from RI you are in CT. If you are an hour plus, I can do a site inspection of the unit for you and provide pics of what I saw.

I will tell you this: tractors in our area are more expensive than elsewhere in the country. However, even with that said, when you add in shipping, etc, there might not be that much difference in price. I'd expect to pay more than 7k for that tractor...

But, then again, you have to see it..

if you are interested in my offer, send me a PM... -art

I have 3110D about the same tractor as 336D. I gave $7000.00 + for mine & that's tractor only . With only 855 hrs I think it would be a great buy at 7-7500 with all the equip.
