Anyone know what years the YM2500 was in production? I read somewhere that it was only manufactured in 1977. Is this true?
How do I find out what year model mine is?
My old Yanmar owners.com Gray market specs. doesn't list the YM2500 which I noticed it was printed in 2010. Tractor data lists the most information on that model. Prod. 77-78. I was told from Spalding where it came from and was Fredricks supplied Tractor. It's the US. Ver. of the J.Deere 850 and basically left off the 4 Gear PTO. to 1 Gear @ 540 rpm.
I believe over the Yrs. and recall they changed the throttle to US. standards also. Push the Handle forwards to increase and Backwards to lower the RPMs. My YM2000 is opposite and thinking back it was true which was normal for me but had to explain it to the owners it worked BackAskwords.
From the Yanmar official document it is more of a mystery. The YM2500 should follow the YM2610 for production years. Yet, in the Yanmar document, it is not mentioned.
The Deere JD850/JD950 and the JD1050 were one of the longer production runs.
Here you can see the JD850 made at the same time with the YM2500 on the same line.
It could be possible, the YM2500 had a longer production run thanks to the JD850 popularity in the USA and Canada.
Additionally, there are other clues. The JD850 has an early setup and a later setup for the electrical system. I would suppose the YM2500 was made during the original early production runs with the JD850. There is a serial number cut-off mentioned in the TM1192 Technical Service Manual. This would mean the JD850 and YM2500 were made together up to 1982. The serial number cut-off was at 12,000.
