The last two times I used my 226, it ran fine for a while and then starting sputtering and loosing power. The sputtering was somewhat like when you pull the decomp lever to stop tractor. I was mowing the yard with a 6' rear discharge finish mower. It seemed to do the worst when turning corners. Looking for any insight on what may be going on. Appreciate any help.

For starters, you should not be using the decompression function to STOP the tractor...it is a STARTING aid. Fuel, air, compression. THese are the three things that make it run. Check your fuel filter, fuel cap for proper venting, fuel lines for blockages, etc. Not likely air or compression if it starts fine, then occurs after some time period.

Nick,
Shine a flashlight down your fuel tank & check to see whats down there. Rust, slime, water ?

If it happens when you are turning only, Ill put $ on the dirty fuel tank,& filter

Thanks for the input. I was thinking fuel issue as well. I didn't realize that the decomp was to help starting... I never have issues starting up. For the record, I don't use it to stop the tractor. Just the best description of the problem. I have some filter elements on order already and they will come in on Monday. When I bought the tractor last year, it didn't come with any manuals so I have not know the duration to change the filters out. With my filters coming monday, I did get some manuals shipped as well so I don't run into this again. I love this tractor and other than this minor problem, it has not given me any trouble at all. Thanks again... Nick

When I got my 1602D there was more than an inch of mud in the bottom of the fuel filter, it's a wonder it ran at all! I'm betting on fuel contamination as well................
