ym2000D hydraylic pump seal blowing out

Nice website, this is my first post. I just aquired a 2000d from my uncle who just upgraded to a new tractor after the hydraulic pump broke. Upon investigating I was advised that he was using the gannon when he lost all hydraulics at the snap of a finger.

What I found was the pin on the pump shaft had sheared, (of course) he lost all hydraulics. I replaced the pump (just because) upon startup I had partial use of the 3pt but no movement with the loader. the shaftseal broke and most of my hydraulic fluid ended up in the oil pan before I got it shut down. I replaced the seal in the pump, and the same exact issue, but the 3pt was at fulll strength before it blew the seal again, loader was still dead, absoloutley no movement.

Tractor is in good shape with 600 hours on it, and I think that this is a simple issue, but I am hydraulic dumb.

Now I have 2 working pumps both need seals, I have all the extra parts to make a fresh install AGAIN, but I know I will waste 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid again. Is it time for a professional? or is there an easy fix. I am a knowledgeable do it your selfer, but I am hydraulic dumb when it gets into too much detail. Also, the hydraulic filter is brand new

I'd check the plumbing and the valves.. plus and QD's inline with the pump. Pumps blow shaft seals when they can't force pressure out the outlet.. IE.. when they are deadheaded... find out what is downstream of the pump, befor ehte relief valve, that is blocking oil flow. If there are any QD's.. they are a PRIME suspect.. just ask the chinese tractor owners... For some reason jinma LOVES to put a qd right after the pump BEFORE a system relief.. this means i fthe qd becomes unseated.. or does not seat correctly.. pump immediatly deadheads and blows the shaft seal or cracks the housing..

Better yet, what can I refer to in an effort to better understand the hydraulic system IE, position of the reliefe valve, QD, Ect Ect. If I can better understand, Im sure I can mumble through it and learn as I go.

I looked around and with the exception of spending a considerable amount of money for books, and schematics that I hope will help I am not really having any luck.

Any ideas why the bucket was dead, but I had partial use of the 3pt? even if it was just for a few seconds? Its all so confusing...

Ok,....Quick disconnect? kind of obvious. Well anyway. Can they be connected and still restrict flow? or completely block flow?

With that in mind, is there anything else within the hydraulic system that might cause issues? What about the reliefe valve? how do I check that?

Yes.. a QD quick connect/disconnect can apepar to be together but partially or totally blocking flow.. Any time a hyd abnormality arises.. it's always good to reseat any QD's in the system.

the information I am getting from you is an extreme help, I appreciate it a great deal.

because of the mess that a blown seal causes, I have not had time to replace the engine oil, and re test the system. I separated the QDs but noticed nothing unusual. they seemed to be fully seated, but I will know for sure in a couple of days.

I have another question,
when I replace the shaft seal (AGAIN) are there any tricks, or have to's that I need to follow to get the seal installed correctly?

Could something in the pump itself be blocked? Im thinking of removing the cover plate but I dodnt want to if I dont have to.

Sorry for "20 questions" but I just want to get my tractor operational, and am tired of spending money on replacement parts and fluids.

Not much in a hyd pump to 'block' the output. if it makes you feel better.. once you repalce the seal.. turn it over by hand with a lil oil in it...

I definately do have a full morning of things to do.

As long as I take my time to install the shaft seal, im assuming I cant do it wrong.

Good luck, and post back with what you find... double check any qd's in the system BEFORE you start the machine up!

I had a chance to get into the tracing of the lines before I left for work, and this is what I found.

from the high side of the pump, the line goes into a QD and then into the inlet side of the loader valve body. next to the inlet is a line that travels into the 3pt.

on the other side of the body is the "outlet" and that line travels into another QD and then into the return for the hydraulics into the tranny.

My conclusion is this. because the 3pt is working, and I have a dead loader I am thinking that the valve body has a malfunction, or failure of some kind. movement feels fine, but I just cant tell.

I talked to a local hydraulic expert reference rebuilding the valve body, and the man is standing strong with feelings that it is most likely fine, and my problems lie somewhere else in the system. He is leaning towards a blockage of some sort like everyone else.

I have decided to take the whole thing to him in the morning. I have to say that this tractor has beat me. at least I can say I put up a fight.
