Wow.. neat looking tractor. I doub't it is a lawn mower though.. Reminds me of an 1100 I saw once..
Also reminds me of those chineese tractors we are talking about over in the other sub.. belt driven drives and all...

That is a neat looking tractor. The only time I've seen belts like that were on the "antique" tractors at the local countuy fair. What are the specs on it.

My memory is poor, but I recall that there is one three-digit YM that is a gray market, and I think this is it. Fellow Yanmar trivia guys can confirm this?

I just noticed the headlights are in the fenders. I don't know if this is something the previous owner did or what.

On the left fender, the warning label appears to be in English. That can be deceiving too.
Appears to have rice tires though. Has the throttle lever pushed all the way forward. Isn't that typical of a grey?

I'd say they were vietnamese reconditioned. They are pre YM2200 & YM2700 models. The YM2200 & YM2700 parts books have footnotes mentioning these models.
ok guys lets keep this thread alive. I'm the guy that bought the 273. I don't think I had ever heard of grey market before i got it home and started to look for parts. However i think you'r right about the vietnam thing because all the tires are from vietnam. It had 3 problems that i am aware of.
1. the shifter yolk slider rod for 1st & 2nd was broken makeing a new one from drill rod was easy.
2. the king pin bushings are badly worn and i could use some help finding replacements.
3. the chargeing system is dead if i don't get it figured out by winter it will emerge in the spring with a ford alternator.
I can only guess about horse power but my guess is 17-20.
I payed $3500. for it if your laughing that's fine.

I'm really curious. Is this a single cylinder tractor? Gas or diesel? It appears that the engine is mounted transverse - that is with the drive shaft oriented left to right rather than front to back. Is that true?
If Yanmar was consistent, then it should be about 20 engine hp. I cannot tell whether it has a pto or not - but pto hp would be around 17.

This tractor does have a PTO but it does not have a PTO shaft. It does have a Power Take Off but it appears to be a chain drive type like ones I have seen on small Shibaura tractors. This type of PTO only works with the tiller designed for that particular tractor. See the attached picture.
