After I used the tiller this weekend on my YM165, I noticed hydraulic oil / trans fluid leaking from around the PTO shaft. It probably leaked about a quart overnight. I called today and ordered a new PTO oil seal. It should be here Thursday.

How do I go about installing the new oil seal? Do I just pry it out with a screwdriver from around the the PTO shaft? Or do I have to take out the 7 bolts "Also stamped with the number seven" out and remove the PTO shaft and bearings to get to the seal?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to TBN! Yeah, Im guessing remove the #7 bolts and the seal should be right there. Since you are replacing the old one, You can just use a screwdriver and get it out. It doesnt matter if you break it because you ordered a new one. I did this when I replaced the seal on my 169D's transfercase. good luck with the repair.
