Hi

I have a ym155d and the front left wheel wobbles. The seal is leaking and I am going to replace the seal. Before I tear into it, I wanted to be ready for what else needs to be replaced. Attempting to minimize my down time. So what would cause the wheel to wobble ?

When it is in 2wd its more pronounced then when in 4wd. The steering rack is a bit loose, but its more than that.
Has anyone come across this before?

bad bearings! But your going to have to tear into it and see the extent of the damage/worn components.

There are several things in there that could cause a wobble. It could be something as simple as the nut on the stub axle just came loose. One thing is for sure though- the more it is driven with the wobble the more it is going to cost to fix it. If those gears get out of alignment in there or it damages a shaft it can get expensive in a hurry. A $5 bearing can turn into several hundred dollars pretty quickly.

If needed, I have a parts manual I could take a picture of. Let me know

Starting to work on the wheel. Starting to take it apart but not coming lose as I think it should. Just in case, its a serial # above 53000xx. I have manual but its pretty light on how it should come apart. Any hints are most helpful.

Never been there, done that on your model. Just looking at the parts drawings it would seem if you take the 4 bolts out holding the stub axle that it should come out. It appears there is no retainer on the stub axle gear and that it should slide off the stub axle. Whether that is true I know not. No doubt there will be some friction from the bearing coming out of the housing or off the shaft, which ever happens first. I wouldn't doubt that you end up taking the kingpin shaft out.

I was able to get out the stub axle with a bit of tinkering. The bearings are pretty tight but do come out. There is a problem reinserting the axle back, since the ring gear drops and is still within the knuckle. Will either need to remove the knuckle or the entire unit.
Not a pretty picture, but the axle seal is chewed up. Everything else is good.

Again, haven't done it on your model but drawing would indicate dropping the lower knuckle should be pretty straight forward. Looks to be well worth it to change the knuckle seal and upper kin pin shaft seal while apart.
