I have a YM1500D and am wondering if it would pull a 5' double row disc harrow. My buddies tractor (Belarus 250AS) is broken and we have the 5' disc harrow, 5' bush hog and 5' box scaper. I am hoping I can pull the harrow to till up the food lots that haven't been planted in many years. I am thinking if I buy a single bottom plow and pull it first, I should be able to disc it much easier with the 5' disc. I think the disc weighs about 700 lbs. I do not know what the lift capacity is on the lower arms. I don't want to hurt my tractor. The fileds are approx. 2 miles from the implement storage and I don't know if I can hook the disc and lock the hydraulics up and drive that far on dirt roads, then drop it and work it.

That may be tough for being 5ft. this is just a Idea I will run by you real quick. Sell the Disc and put the money you will spend on a plow and you may pretty much cover the cost of a tiller for your 1500. I see you are in Ga. I would call Spalding Tractors in Griffin ask For Steve. Great Guy he can help you out ether way you decide to go. The RStillers work great for me here is a pick of a RS1400 He can help you out ether way. As you can see it's sweeeeeett!!

My vote is that with the 4wd you might be able to do it you will just have to use draft control as it starts to cut deeper, cause i think it will stop it. About the lift capacity, not really sure on that, but i think it will lift it i would not worry about bending them.

Dont lock it out from what i have heard you dont want to lock the 3pth out while running, it will burn up the pump or something, that is a service stop valve to troubleshoot 3pth and keep it from falling down for service.

Carey while the tiller is a good choice, food plots only need bare dirt for seed contact, i dont think that you would want to spend the time it takes to make the area look like yours in that pic. dont know i dont use a tiller in my plots.

I think it will work, can you get a small trailer and put the disk on it and pull it with your truck and drive the tractor that will cut way down on the stress on the tractor while driving?

If it has been a few years in my experience weight is better than no weight to help it cut through the tough field grass that grows up and forms a mat here in the south.

The pic. I showed was just how easy it does till up now and was far from the first pass 3rd to be exact. The First two was done at the end of Febuary. 5 weeks before. Even On just Two pass useing a tiller that the tractor can handle you will get better results than using a Plow and a disk Harrow. Honestly one will be sufficient for A food plot. I am down to Tlling up at the end year and One pass at the planting time. And won't have to change Implements and move the implements multiple times Around the property, which is 200 acres for us. Just a little Food Plot For Thought. Plus the Deer may think it a garden.I Swear I think every one in the county gets into this one. :D:D

I only use the teeth on my box blade to plow up for food plots and it looks better then the manufacturers photo on the bag. If the area is small the tiller is fine, go to plant 5-10 acres and you will be tilling for 2 weeks (If its un-plowed ground), farmers use disc harrow and plows.

Now to answer the post question, 5 ft implements that are ground engaging in my opinion are to large for your 1500, not sure of the lift capacity on the 1500 but at 700 lbs I would think you are getting REAL close.

To give you a good idea this is a 4ft BB behind a ym2000 24Hp.Covers my wheel tracks perfect The pic. above is a 5ft. tiller. I can load this BB up and tell it's back there. Only 18hp.and 4wd is not much help when all the weight and drag is on the back IMO. After thinking more about it 5ft. No! and the tiller even sounds better now. a good rule of thumb 4hp. per foot
