I recently purcased a 1500D with a Howse 3500 rotary cutter and nothing else. I need help in sizing a box blade, rear blade, landescpe rake, & possible finish mower. I have 10 acres to cut, 8 of which will only need hogging 4 to 5 times a year. There are several drainage ditches to maintain on this flat section and 600+ feet of driveway to grade & maintain. Further at some point in time I will probably move to a larger CUT-FEL and would prefer not not to replace all the implements. Thanks in advance.

I have had a few 1500's and 1500D's.

Boxblade. Go with a 4ft. Would it pull a 5ft, yes but not very well. Once that box was full of dirt you would sit and spin. I would also add front weight to the tractor especially with the box. Make those front wheels work for you. When that box gets full of dirt and you raise the lift the front will get light. Weight will also hold it down for that reason.

Rear Blade. You could go with a 4 footer but I would go with a 5 ft blade. If and when you angle the 4ft blade you won't even cover your tire tracks. The blade won't accumulate as much dirt as a box blade so it is easier to pull.

Landscape rake. 5 foot. Pretty much the same reasoning as with the blade.

Finish mower. I would go with a 4 ft. I sold a YM1500 to a guy that wanted a 5ft mower with it. I could not talk him out of it. He wanted to cut his mowing time down. The 1500 had enough power to run the mower but just barely. If you ever miss a week mowing, you will pay dearly when you do mow. You will have to gear the tractor down and go really slow to keep from bogging the mower down.

This makes things a little harder on you. Your 1500 would be considered a sub-CUT along the lines of the John Deere 2210 or Kubota BX. Whatever you buy that is sized for your tractor will probably be too small for a larger CUT.
