Been lurking here for a few days. I'm looking to reluctantly replace my ailing and aging Power King 2414. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm considering one of the small grey market Yanny models mainly because I'm within resonable driving distance from Wayne @ Little Miami and I've read nothing but positive comments about him and his operation. But I'm also open to other suggestions and would also like to know if there's any reputable grey dealers in the mid-Michigan area.

Oh yeah, I have a 2.5 acre lot, 1 of which is lawn, so the tractor would be used mainly for mowing and plowing snow, as well as other miscellanious duties.

Welcome Don,

I don't know him personaly, but I have always heard the highest praise for Wayne. I even seriously considered going all the way up there for a 1700B that he showed on his site.

Be sure and do a search for those model numbers in the Yanmar forum. You'll find a lot of great info there.

Don,

I would offer suggestions for another honest dealer...IF I knew one that was better, but I can't.

For the size and duties of your property needs, the two selections of Yanmar are great choices...and the Dealer, even smarter. Good luck on your tractor hunt.

You should do so, Bruce! It is an extreme bargain. We don't normally stock 1700s because our experience is that in our extreme weather (the Ohio river valley has some of the most extreme temp/humidity combination highs in the country) they have difficulty with extended use due to the lack of a water pump. This is a "B" WITH a pump...we don't normally buy "B"s either, because the price is so close to a 2000. Anyway....took it on trade. It has been thoroughly gone over, had a new head gasket (head, valves, pistons, etc. all seemed fine) and a new brake pinion (you do not want to break one of those...very pricey), and runs great. Looks average for the market, but not good compared to the rest of our stock. Anyway, it is very well priced, and soon to go up about $550 because we will be adding a ROPS. By summer we expect to not sell units without ROPS.

Thanks to all for the glowing endorsements. Even for a parcel as small as 2.5 acres, I would recommend at least a 1610, or even a 2210 (best bang for the buck in the whole YM lineup, rivaled only by the 2000 for value per dollar), though one could certainly get by with a smaller unit. Don, if you will email us we will gladly send references, including in Michigan.

Hello Wayne. I'm the guy that emailed you w/a a couple questions about a finish mower last week. I'm still favoring one of the smaller tractors (and the smaller monthly payment that accompanies it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ), although I've heard a lot of guys singing praise for the Powershift equipped units too. Hmmmm

Don't suppose any of these Michigan references of yours would let me test drive or at least see their machine(s)?

Thanks,
Don

Got another question for you Wayne. Do you ever get any 1100s, 1300s, or 1500s in inventory? I just found videos of a YM1500D and a Mitsubishi 2300D in action, and I think I'm madly in love with that 2-lunger sound! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I could get good and used to working one of those on the property, especially if it was running on sweet-smelling B100 in the summer. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Don,
I have sent you a PM. It's not proper for us (as a dealer) to conduct our business on this board. I do not have your email address (sorry, but we get so much email I would not recall one inquiry from another unless we had talked seriously about a purchase), so feel free to email from our site or LMTC@tds.net

And you are perfectly free to do that. I am not, as a dealer, permitted to try to sell on this board if I do not pay for advertising, so I feel that OUR conversation needs to take place outside this forum. That's all.
