It looks to me that the first picture is your voltage regulator. The two light colored wires should connect to the generator. Looks to me like they connect to the yellow wires in your second picture. (it does not matter which yellow wire connects to which regulator wire.) The black goes to ground. The red is the output, which will connect to the starter and the switch.
That is consistent with the wiring diagram for my 1500, which should be much the same as yours.
