Bo, I don't know anything about Yanmar tillers, but a friend in this area bought a tiller at an auction about a year and a half ago. He says he found something on it to indicate it's a Yanmar (everything I found on it was in Japanese so I couldn't read any of it/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif). Anyway, he said he gave $250 for it. Now in my opinion, it looks like a pile of junk - no idea how old it is - but he says it works great, and in his (and my) opinion, that's all that counts./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Thanks. I believe I've backed off the YM I was looking at (sorta). I had a deal on a new 4' box blade and a used 49" YM tiller. After reading that some YM tillers need a different top link attachments so they don't hit the tires I got leary since it was being shipped in from Texas. No warranty on the tiller but guaranteed it'd work upon arrival.
Back to wishing...

The yanmar tillers look different but are rock solid units. They have some external wheels that are pretty
worhtless unless your in a rice paddy so just remove them. Most yanmar tillers are standard
3pt units. The very small ones are 2pt units for yanmar only tractors. I have A RS1300 tiller and it works
great. But then I have a YM1801 yanmar to mate with it.

I have a Yanmar RS-1404 tiller I bought used for $300 about 1.5 years ago. It has been a great tiller. I had to shorten an old top link to 18 inches. The standard 22/23 inch top links are too long. Other than that it has been great. since purchased, I have tilled a total of 12 acres with ten being virgin soil with roots and rocks. I have yet to break anything.
DO BE WATCHFUL ON TWO THINGS WITH THESE USED TILLERS.
1...Flush and refill the gear oil (cause they probably have water in them)
2...Make sure the tines are in good shape (alot of them are worn out or bent/broke)
