In the middle of a job, had the hydraulics fail on my YM 3000. Drained the fulid and checked the filter, it was clean except for some traces of a black rubber. Removed the pump, and sure enough, the inner O rings had failed, fluid had leaked past the inner seal into the crankcase mixing with the engine oil. Changed the oil. After a few calls, found out that no one seams to sell a seal kit for this pump, just a replacement pump. Hoye has a great price on a new pump @ $400 or so, but what I really need is a seal kit that can't cost $50. Started thinking, and looked at my John Deere 950 that is waiting to be split for a new 3rd gear this winter. Noticed that the pump on the Deere was almost the same as the Yanmar. Removed the pump from the 950 and installed on the YM3000, perfect fit !! The inlet and outlet ports are exactly the same as well, didn't have to change a thing. The Yanmar uses a 3T84 engine, the Deere uses a 3T90J engine. Right away I noticed that the 3 point and the FEL moves at twice the speed, think the Deere pump is moving about twice the hydraulic fluid. That let me finish the job, but it worked so well, not quite sure what to do for the final repair. I like the JD pump so well, might have to get one for the Yanmar as a replacement ??? It also seams that JD makes a seal kit for this one, another advantage. Guess I have a decision to make here. The point of the thread is that there has been much talk about how, in some models, the parts interchange, the hydraulic pump is one item that does.
