YM 2310D Questions

Just bought a YM 2310D - Love it! There is a round knob underneath the seat that points left and right for open and close. What is that knob's purpose? And right beside that knob is a small lever that appears that it can be adjusted. Same question, what is its purpose? Any help would be appreciated!

The one that looks like a drift pin through a shaft controls the rate of drop on your 3 point. The knob can do that, but is to lock the hydraulics.
