Well,
My father is instructing me that I need at least 24 hp to pull a 6ft finishing mower. He should know since he's 70 and had tractors since he was a child. Which Yanmar would I need? I prefer 2WD in the garden. He has me looking at a 90 series JD or Kubota L2800 or NH TC30 and I don't want to spend that amount of money. John

With those credentials, I'd take you're father's advice, but without the expense. I bet a YM2000 or 2210 would do the trick nicely, and the thread "Anyone looking for a Yanmar" appears to have been posted just for you! I've used mine for rolling out a couple of stumps, skidding small logs (uphill), and general digging. Found the traction limits but haven't yet really taxed the pulling power.

Ku4ns,
I agree with your personal expert of 700 years on the 24HP mark for a 6 foot implement! They are both great tractors with few differences. The YM2000 is a 2 cylinder that has great torque but idles a little rougher at low speeds. The 2000s are very simple on maitenance, extremely fuel efficient, and extremely reliable... some would say bullet proof. Most are configured with an 8 speed transmission with two sets of gears on the rear. The 2010 is a powershift transmission and a 3-cylinder engine. It is considered an upgraded model and runs slightly more expensive. The main advantage is the 3-speed transmission.
Both are great units!
