Pulled the head again looked closer at the valves, they’re not seating completely(yep, shoulda done it earlier but been in a hurry) ain’t no big deal. I really appreciate all yall’s input, this is a great site.

Hard to be for sure but that was my guess. Now Find out Why and hope it can be corrected easily and finish it up. Would I reuse the old H-Gasket? "NO". Maybe to get it running and then replace it with a new one and then you should be good to go :2cents:

Glad you confirmed the valves weren't seating. At least now you have a new starting point. Hopefully it is an easy fix and nothing major. As Carey said, I would not use the old head gasket either, they are cheap, just get a new one that way if something isn't working properly you won't have to wonder if the head gasket is bad at that point.

Should’ve checked the first time off, just got in a hurry to get it running. Thx.

I would not use the old gasket either...Unless I was in a hurry to use it. But I'd buy a new one expecting when slow to replace it or not be angry if it let go or whatever knowing it was used.

Worked the valves over, the head was a mess once I got them out. What is the spacing between the rocker arm and valve supposed to be? I know they need to be readjusted.

It runs, finally!

:thumbsup:I could imagine that head was in bad shape. I was guessing it had ring problems. And the ether was my reasoning. Just keep I mind about the gasket and if it's worth replacing it. I would..

Never seen a head in this bad of shape, lots of corrosion on the back cylinder combustion chamber. Already have a new head gasket on the way. Thanks to all you guys on the forum.

Could that be a cracked head with a water leak?

Didn’t see any, but probably would if I had it Magnafluxed. The original head gasket was badly broken.

so, you are saying it runs ? Did you get the answer about the valve adjustment ?
I see where you asked and no one responded. I can look it up if you need it

Same clearance for YM240 (YM2000).

Yes Ken, it runs. Got the specs online, thanks Cal. Thanks everyone for the ideas, introspection and head scratching.

it just puzzles me as to why you couldn't see all of this when you had the head off the first time :confused3:
