A local TSC has a couple of these on close out. A new one (display model , sat outside alot, & one a customer returned because the chain kept coming off. (possible bent sprocket on the axel) I can get the display model for $3200 and the returned one for $2500. The MGR said that warranties would still apply. Are these things worth it or just junk specially made for the box stores ? The original price on the units was about $4595. Comments or ideas please........Thanx..........Tom

I've checked them out at Sams Club. I'd jump on the $2500 unit and fix the chain problem myself. The other didn't seem like quite enough of a bargain for me. They're pretty basic rigs but seem like they'd be fine for puttering about /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

there was a post awhile back about 'em ... something about parts not being available if I recall.... they may be a "throw away" ... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif...wonder if that's why my local TSC no longer has 'em .. they have an ezgo now.

Last summer I was close to buying a Yerf Dog at my TSC store and one of the employees warned me that they have sold 4 of them and so far 3 had been returned and the customers demanded a refund because they were lemons. My concern also was where would I have warranty work done at? TSC doesn't service these.
I had to spend a little more money but I am super happy with my Kawasaki Mule. I would recommend a brand model like a Rhino, Mule, Gator, etc... that you can have warranty work or service done locally.

I gotta believe that if the warranty was truly any good, the sprocket would be there for you to replace when you bought the $2500 unit. Ask the TSC manager if he will put the Y-D on layaway for you pending the delivery of the questionable sprocket. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Heck, I don't know because it sounds like a pretty good deal. You can't buy a decent go-kart for much less than $2500. If you can order and receive parts, that's the main thing.

I think Soundguy bought one of those. He might give you a little inside scoop if you PM him.

Like you, I'd be tempted just because I could turn my grandkids loose on the Y-D instead of the Mule. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim.......I have a brother inlaw in FL who is building a cabin on some property in Tenn. & wants one to use there. It will sit more than it may get used, & I'm on the fence as to buy it here in OH & take it down to him, as if it has problems, my sister will not let me hear the end of it. the price sure is tempting tho...............?? What to do ??

You might want to check out the chuck wagon by Brister Designs. a real USA made unit (just out of Katrinas reach in Louisiana). real HONDA engines. We have sold several and zero warranty issues so far. just a bit more money than the chinese Yerf dog, but a much nicer unit with DANA transaxle, 4x4 also availalbe. I have a local who wants to trade his yerf dog in, if you werent too far...

Well I picked up a new close out Scout at TSC today for $2000. I'll let you know after putting a few hours on it.

Wow, cant beat that price. They had some at SAMS here a few years ago (before state made them stop as they are not licensed motor vehicle dealers) and seems they were around 3499 at that time. Hopeit works well for you.

Well with two hours on the machine, I can tell you that I would be really PO if I had bought one at full price. The first time I drove it was all over the road but after aligning the front wheels it now drives fine.

All in all it is an OK machine. The ergonomics of the gas pedal is horrible. The brakes are all but non-existent and it is best if you stay on groomed trails or on a smooth surface since the suspension leaves a lot to be desired. Top speed is mid twenty something and it seems to be loud with rattles and such.

This would have not been my first choice but for the price I could not pass it up. I had planned on having a Mule, Gator or Rhino and a lifted golf cart but this might take the place of the golf cart.
