Yellow \"Fog\" lamps on a ROPS for front lighting?

I'm trying to figure out what lights to put on my ROPS for mowing in the late evenings. But I live in Indiana and we have mosquitos that are related to vampires, especially along the sheltered areas by our woods so I was wondering if anyone has ever installed yellow lenses or yellow fog lamps on your ROPS to keep the bugs up front by the regular headlamps? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have 2 sets of 20-watt fog lights that I mounted on the folding ROP’s of my 2910. Two looking forward and two to the rear. They work well. I don’t know about the mosquito problem because when they come out in the evening I have completed all the work I’m going to do for the day.
I do get to use them in the winter though. The only problem I have is YELLOW SNOW!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I purchased the kits from Wal-Mart for less than $20.00 each.
I can post some pictures later this week.

Ron, other than not getting off the tractor and eating that yellow snow you got, I am wondering if they throw out enough light to help see what you are doing.

I often finish mowing shortly after sunset and our property is very hilly with lots of bumps and ruts and a couple of flat spots. The headlights on my tractor throw an uneven light pattern that is modestly acceptable to mowing flat ground but pretty much useless for uneven ground. I contacted NH to see if they have brighter bulbs but the parts guys said no dice so that leaves me the option of adding additional lighting.

I thought yellow would be good because they seem to attract less bugs but am concerned they don't throw enough light to work, which is the point of adding them.

Maybe I should just finish earlier and go in the house /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

When I was very young I leaned not to eat yellow snow. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I just have to be able to remeber. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
The fog lights are brighter than the front headlights. It does take a while to get used to them.
When plowing snow I only use the fog lights. My snow blade is always blocking headlights on the 2910 when it is raised.
It may be next weekend before I can post the pictures.

Bob,
You may want to try what I did. I have a 2710 and the headlights were woefully inadequate at 26 watts each. I picked up a set of high intensity (50 Watts) backup light bulbs from Auto Zone (couple bucks for 2) and replaced the 26 watt one's. The difference was dramatic but the bugs still swarm when mowing late at night

I took some pictures of my lights. Because the lights are mounted high there is more view from the lights. Less shadows I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Everyone sight is different. What works for me may not work for you. I have attached a picture of my lights. The first view is from the rear. The box in the middle has the relays and switches for each set of lights.

This is a picture from the front of ROP’s.

Yellow lights will improve the contrast, the French mandated them on autos for years. You might not attract as many moths with them but mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide, which you and your tractor are emitting in abundance. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
