Yardman tractor will not turnover

Hi everyone.

Just acquired a Yardman tractor with a 16hp kohler command.

I got it home, unloaded it from the trailer and started cutting grass. I was cutting some longer grass and after approx 10 mins the engine labored and I was unable to put it into neutral before it stalled. I raised the deck, placed the transmission in neutral depressed the clutch pedal turned the key and nothing. It did not turn over. I also noticed that the ignition light did not come on when the key was set to start.

I thought maybe it was a fuse, so checked the 20 amp fuse under the transmission plate, but that was ok.

The previous owner did mention that he disconnected the seat safety years ago and has nothad a problem.

Any help would be appreciated to get it started again

Sounds like a switch problem, seat, pedal check them first. Is it hydrostatic? If so it should have a switch for that as well. You didn’t happen to leave the deck on while trying to start it?

Thanks. It is hydrostatic. I made sure the deck was in start position. I will go and check again this evening
