Yanmar tail lights? and hello from newbie!

First, I'd like to say hello, I'm a newbie to this group and tractor ownership. I've been watching these discussions daily and have been inspired by all your positive support for fellow tractor owners. I got my Yanmar F20D about a month ago and am having so much fun! I'm also getting real work done /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So get back to taillights. I was checking why my tail lights were not working and discovered there's no electronics beneath the taillight covers. Is this normal? I figure I could use something from a trailer light kit and wire into the headlight circuit. Just wonderering what you think.

Daniel,

I believe you have a 2 position switch on your instrument panel that indicates left/right directional lights when turned accordingly.

If you bought your F20 from a dealer, I would call them and let them know that your lamp assemblies are "empty". A reputable dealer will send them.

If you bought from private party, there are several suppliers here on TBN that can provide the correct parts and info on how to connect wiring.

I have a FX24D & if you are talking about the rectangular mounts on the edge of the fender they are just relectors NOT tail lights. The turn signals are mounted on the top of the fenders & they are two sided.

blackd, Yes that's exactly what I have and answers my question. See the pic. The yellow turn signals work fine. I thought the red reflectors should have lights in them but you say just reflectors is normal. I'll see what my auto parts store has for a bulb housing that will fit.

I have to drive on a shared private road to get to parts of my property and would be really good to have something at night for other vehicles to see me from behind.

On my 186D if you pull up on the turn signal switch it makes the yellow lights flash. When I get near the road I turn them on even though I haven't noticed that the cars passing by slow down much. Guess I just ought to be glad no one has hit me yet.

Its Ernie, from Ernies Imports, I sold you that machine a while ago. Im glad to hear its working out for you.
The F 2 digit yanmars do not have tail lights that light they are just reflectors. But your f20 has an extra wire on the right fender to mount a backup light, maybe you could use that to mount somesort of a warning devise.
