Bird, Would it be legitimate for all the dealers that have Yanmar parts that post on the forum to put their web pages/email address here. It would be nice to have them ALL in one place I think.:D There might be a dealer that is not too far away that one of us did not know existed.

I would try to list them, but I would forget someone.:(

Mike, I'm not the one to ask this time. Advertising in the discussion forums is prohibited without the prior permission of Tractorbynet. Some of the dealers, such as Hoye, are paying to advertise here, which is what keeps it free for the rest of us. But Muhammad, owner of Tractorbynet, is the proper person to ask questions such as this.

Mike, I've been chastised by a mod (not Bird) in the past for even indicating we sell anything...I was told to pay for advertising if I wanted it. My contention (this was in the very early days) was that it was the presence of posters like me (and Ernie, Buck, Dave, Danny and others)....dealers.....that brought in a good bit of the retail crowd to start with. I still think this is true to a great extent, but not to the extent it was some years ago. Expertise and information then was far more limited than it is now. Apparently the forum ownership does not agree with me on this, but I still believe if all the dealers had pulled out of the Yanmar forum it would have collapsed. There simply was not enough information available eslewhere.

In fact it was this early chastisement by a mod that helped me decide to refuse to pay for advertising here regardless of what happened. I simply resented the lack of acknowledgement that our (dealers overall) presence was a huge factor in this forum's success. Now I'm a big fan of private property rights, and I have always fully acknowledged the prerogative of the site's owner(s) to run it as they see fit. And we get plugs here and there from individuals that are good for business. So I hang around and kick in some info from time to time, and we are listed in their free dealer listing if you do an advanced search.

OK I understand that it would not be fair to give ad space to a dealer that did not pay for it and yet another paid and got the same coverage. Not a good business practice either I suppose if you are in it for the money.

I did not want to do anything against the rules and that is why I asked. ;) usually I just do it and then ask for forgiveness.:D

Since were on this subject I like to add my opinion concerning dealers input.

I've seen countless times, when dealers have interrupted a person or persons using or about to do something mechanically harmful to their tractors...or worse, displaying an unsafe practice that could cause grave bodily harm to themselves or onlookers. A few immediately come to mind:

".....You really don't need a ROPS if you live on flat property"
".....If you have a ROPS it's not absolutely necessary to wear your seatbelt"
".....Ether won't hurt a thing...been doing it for years on my tractors"
"....Just fill your radiator with a gallon of anti-freeze and top of the rest with water".
(and the list goes on...)

Pretty foolish statements and most everyone on this forum knows it. I'd be willing to bet that you didn't always know it...you may have heard it from dealers, or more importantly, learned it from someone who learned it from dealers.

I genuinely believe that gray market dealers have paid their dues, supported their customers and provide a competitive product and still offer their TIME, advice, suggestions and professional opinions without monetary compensation. Try this with your doctor, lawyer or even a plumber...
