Hey guys. I noticed that I have had 11 views, no responses. Is it because this is a unique problem or do I just have bad breath?
Any help would be appreciated. After a short period of use (using the front loader, going forward backward etc. or even pulling in a straight line) sometimes when I stop to shift, the clutch pedal will move in and out but nothing happens. It is as if all I have is a pressure plate but no clutch plate. If I allow the tractor to sit for an hour or less it usually acts as if nothing is wrong.

Thanks
Richard

I would suspect the workings of your clutch system. If you have to crack the tractor open to check these parts, you may as well replace the clutch -throw out bearing- pressure plate. unless, you know how many hours are on these parts. I would suspect the pressure plate / clutch getting hot/ going bad is the problem

Don't get off on the wrong foot here. You got no responses because no one knew what your problem was according to your description. What do you mean by "nothing happens"?

I did not mean to sound ugly. I was trying to make a little humor. I am sorry. I get in trouble this way a lot. I appreciate everyone's help. What I mean by "nothing happens" is just that. It is as if my clutch is disconnected. I feel the pressure plate when I press the clutch pedal but nothing I shift to will make it move.

Thanks:)

Is the clutch adjusted correctly, 1/2"-3/4" free travel? Does the pto quit working working along with the tractor. If the clutch has proper clearance, then it must be bad.

Norm -- Does "free travel" refer to the distance when pushing the pedal until resistance is felt from the pedal spring, or does it refer to pushing the pedal just enough until the clutch just begins to disengage?

Also, same question for "free travel" for brake pedal. Does it refer to pedal distance movement until pedal spring pressure is felt, or until brake shoes just begin to contact drum? Thank you.

Is it an F24 or FX24 ??

Earnie- It is an F24. That is the first thing I thought when he emailed me was that he had an FX24 and the powershift relief valve was sticking but he assured me it was a manual shift F24.

I think Norm's "Does the pto quit working along with the tractor. " will be the most help in diagnosing the problem. If the pto does not quit then you can start to look at some other issues. If it does quit I think you will need to split the tractor and have a look.

Those are tough questions to answer. In both cases there is always pedal spring pressure. on the clutch, free travel is before you feel the additional pressure of the pressure plate, (when the clutch just begins to disengage). on the brakes, it's how far the pedal travels until the brake locks up.
