Yanmar F20D

Hi folks........I bought a Yanmar F40D a while back, dont know what year for sure. I tried to start it this morning and all I got was a click and then all the instrument panel lights went out and it is dead. Checked battery and all the other normal stuff. if you turn the key on there is nothing, but ifyou wait a while it will do all the above again. Any help would really be really appreciated!!

Are the battery connections and the ground connection clean?

Yes there're all clean, I even had the starter rebuilt. When you turn on the key you can turn on the lights, the turn signals, whatever you want, but when you turn the key to start there is a loud click and everthing goes dead. It can take thirty minutes before the power will come back. The day before it was fine and I started and stopped it several times with no problems.

Thanks reb!! I checked the connections again and the ground wire could be a little iffy so I wired in another cable and ran to to the engine along with the original one and the did the trick. I really appreciate the help...thank you!!
