Yanmar and Deere Split?

I've recently read on this site, as well as others, that Cub Cadet and Yanmar have signed an agreement to form a joint venture in NE Ohio to build tractors. Does anyone know, or care to speculate, what type of affect this will have on the Yanmar/Deere relationship?

I looked at the Cub 6284, and thought it was a real nice machine. It has a Caterpillar/Perkins Diesel and is made in the US. I bought the Deere 2305 because I really like green, and I couldn't find an 6284's around to test drive nor could I find much info on them.

I think this is mainly because Deere isn't buying many "complete" tractors from Yanmar. Yanmar still likes selling engines and components, so I expect JD will stick with them. When JD went away from all-Yanmar with the 4000-Series several years ago it hurt Yanmar pretty good.

The article actually says they have formed a JV to "market" as opposed to "build" tractors. Will this really be any different than the current JD relationship? The tractors will probably be manufactured in japan, w/ possibly final assembly from kits in the US.

To your point, I agree it seems there could be a little overlap w/ JD. For example, my JD 2520 has a Yanmar "TNV" series engine. I believe this is probably one of the better lines of compact tractor diesel engines. If the new cub cadets will offer a tractor w/ the same line of engines, if I was JD I would be very unhappy.
