Yanmar 1441d What to pay for it

Hey guys. Yanmar 1401d Thinking about picking this neat tractor up. One owner last 11 years. Great condition. Runs excellent, everything works. All metal straight. I personally know the owner. 545 hours Woods moter is smooth and is 48" snd Is a 2000 model Tractor is being sold locally. What do you think?????

I have a YM169D (US cousin of the 1401D) and it is a great little tractor. The amount of work you can do with such a small tractor is just amazing. If you plan to get a rototiller, Try to get a 40" wide unit. I have a 50" agric tiller and it is almost to much tiller for my tractor. If you start at full throttle and drop the tiller, you will run at half throttle. For other implements, stay with 4' and 5' sizes such as 5' rear blades/landscape rakes, and 4 foot box blades, etc. As you can see my YM169D can lift pretty high, well those aren't the factory 3 point lift arms, they are telescopic lower arms which i think are about 4" longer which gives me that extra lift height. You can lift quite a bit with the 3 point hitch, my estimate is about 500-600 pounds depending on the implement or load. Things to check over at purchase is check out if there are any leaks, especially from the front axle or transmission. It could be as simple as tightening a bolt but it could be replacing a seal in the transfer case, i know because i had to do it.

Check the engine oil, my tractor needs a new seal on the oil pan so I always check the oil before use. See when it was last serviced, operate the PTO at both speeds (assuming it is 540 and 770 like mine) and use every gear in the tranny (reverse high is kinda fast, be ready for that). Inspect the whole tractor, make sure everything is in good order and test the 4wd, just engage 4wd and turn in a tight circle. Front tires will grab and it will not turn near as sharp as 2wd will. Your rear tire can adjust side to side fairly easily. With yours it is turned to the inside, mine is on the outside but it allows you to narrow or widen the stance of your tractor to your needs (mine is set at 40"). These are great tractors, very reliable, and if taken good care of will last a long time. This 1401D that you are looking at is in very good condition physically, if it operates as well as it looks It is well worth $3000.

Johndeer. Thanks for the information. I have checked all you mentioned. No leaks and everything works as it should. It has the three speed pto and turns the mower fine. Said he would take $2,500 from me. Think Ill run and give him the money before he changes his mind. Guys over at the Yanmar fourm seem tto think its a good deal.
