I think your missing his point. If it has front and rear wheel weights it would have four or at least three wheels, why would you will behind something like that? I guess you could cause I'm no expert on Yanmar or walk behind tractors.

Yes, I did miss his point. The only 1-cly Yanmars I've known about at the walk-behinds. Didn't know there were riding mowers with a mere 1-cly. Must be loud as all get-out too!

There was an era where walk behinds were popular.
Think Gravely!
Even Ward's and Sears had them in their catalogues back then.
I once owned a Gravely, dang thing had tons of torque but little ground clearance.
Put it up to a tree and the wheels would dig 'till it was hung up.
Also heavy brute to maneuver when stuck as it was all cast iron solid.

CUT tractors soon displaced that market with Kubota coming to North America.

Well, You have to remember why they used these things.. I remember someone saying once the average Japanese rice farmer has about 1 acre or less. So these things would be ideal for that
