Yamaha Terrapro PTO cap

Hey guys, I recently picked up my first quad, a Yamaha Terrapro with an RC-42 mower attached. Supposedly 600 hrs on it, or miles, not sure. Seems like a cool machine. Anyways I am trying to work on getting it running it’s been sitting for a couple years. One thing I was wondering is does anyone know where to get a dust cap for the PTO on the atv? I have seen a few photos out there of people who have a little cap on the back for when they are not using the PTO and it’s detached. To keep mud and dirt out. Also looking for a cover for the male piece. The photo shows the caps I’ve seen online. I’m sure I’ll have more questions soon. Thanks guys have a good one

Nice. That machine was only made for two years - back in the late 1980’s. So, I’m not sure where you can get parts.

But it will be cool when you get it back up and running.

I’m sure others will be more help.

What is OD of the PTO on yours? If 1 3/8", that's a standard tractor PTO size.
LMK, I can find the JD P/N for 1 3/8" PTO shaft cover

We sold the Terrapro ATVs when I was working at the Yamaha dealer. Most ATVs were air cooled back then and some people were trying to mow trails with those pull-behind mowers. With the ATV pulling but moving slow, they would get quite hot. Sometimes the ignition parts under the engine covers would not survive.

The Terrapro was purpose built and made to work hard while traveling slow. It didn't need air flow as it had a engine powered fan cooling system. Too bad they were a hard sell at the time. I think they would be more popular now.

I think you are correct.

I read in an ATV magazine or somewhere that the Terrapro was 30 years ahead of its time.

Thanks for the replies yall, I’m grateful for the info. Took some pics of the quad and also here’s a better pic of the cap in question. The outer diameter I’m measuring is about 2 and 1/8”. Do you guys think I’m missing a piece here, the pipe underneath? Any thoughts on if it’s hours/miles?

It looks like about a 1" spline on the pto shaft. (?) Also, I think I read that the mowers were made by Woods.

I believe you are missing a stub shaft. there needs to be a male-male stub shaft to go into that coupling to use the rear pto, not that it will have a gob of power anyway.

The stub is on the PTO shaft.

I was expecting it to have male PTO shaft like a tractor. I see, from your pictures, it has a female PTO. So the one for a tractor (PTO shaft cover), I suggested, will not work.
